RECLAIM verb (/rɪˈkleɪm) to take back something that was yours.   SYMBIOSIS noun (/ˌsɪm.baɪˈoʊ.sɪs) the living together in intimate association or close union of two dissimilar organisms. ________________ “Maybe not” Arthur interrupts John to keep him from despairing. “But that doesn’t mean Kayne gets to dictate how we think about any of this. We destroyed that stone. We defeated him. And we saved everything that matters to us.” Hm, John hums, not quite convinced yet. Arthur refuses to let it dictate their thoughts any longer. He traces the scar’s shape with John now, slow and steady. As if cutting the throat with their tenderness.   “This scar….it’s here because I love you” he reminds John of its nuance. The day he inflicted it on himself, desperate to save him from the king. Their promise that if it really came down to it, they’d rather die together than be split apart. And that is just the thing.   Kayne tried to drive a wedge between them. Again and again. Hoping to leave his mark on him. Hoping to make a difference about that choice. About their love for each other.   Never.

This is a character driven story about the five stages of grief, written from Arthur’s point of view, loosely based on the Greek tale of Sisyphus. The denial. The anger. The bargaining, depression, and ultimately… Acceptance. That no matter how many times he tries to rewrite his own history, he might just have to let go.

He’ll come.” Or hide, Yellow says, unsure whether it’s a counter argument, something to be celebrated, chased, hunted, or meant to…soothe? No. Not to soothe. To incite. To push. To aim for more. “He needs to die, too” Arthur goes on and at long last, that makes Yellow still. But not with shock. No, this is excitement. “And you’ll help me make it happen tonight.” _________________________________ The story of one man's unraveling. Little does he know that the very action he decides on is what ends up ensuring that the love he's mourning can't return. Aka: This is how Arthur stopped being "our" Arthur. And this is how Yellow destroyed his only way out. Part of a loose series, but can be read as a standalone.

I don’t want to. I don’t, John says, to make that perfectly clear. To end this cycle of constant deflection and ignorance of pain and fear. Not like this. Not in front of each other. Not anymore.

That body is like a coffin. And it’s going to be hard for the both of us. But I trust you.

Arthur’s eyes widen. His mouth opens, but nothing comes out. As he looks back and forth between the body on the ground and his killer right before him.

I trust that you’ll take my hand and lead me wherever it is that we need to go from here. I trust that we’ll find a solution that’ll help us both. I -trust- you.
