Resistance works very well when the perpetrator has a operating framework with a set of statutes and principles.

This is the single reason that Gandhi succeeded with British terminating their occupation of India or later Nelson Mandela's success on the same principles.

But that model did not work elsewhere. Interestingly, taking a 'uprising' model like Intifada and its post modernistic derivatives like 'Spring' or 'Occupy movements' did not work out either.

In post-modern societies, the people are weak as they are 'consumerists', they do not read and the media 'dilute' the message and 'discredits' the opposition at the first sign of violence.

The answer lies in "very strong Anti-consumerism" !
