Anti-piracy message from Mario's Super Picross. Notably, unlike the vast majority of anti-piracy messages in SNES games that simply appear without any special effects (likely due to being a very low priority during development as they are never supposed to be seen by paying customers), this one uses a fade-in animation.

Mini-feature on "Mario's lesser-known friends and foes" from the 2026 Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition. It is unknown why these three in particular were chosen, though it might have been simply at random without any overarching theme.

Happy Pokémon Day everyone! I'm pretty excited for Winds and Waves, and my server wanted me to draw Coro and Taima dressed as the new Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu!

In Super Mario 64 DS, an interaction only exists when the beam of light is shining down onto the carpet in the castle lobby (after collecting 14 stars, but before activating the Wing Cap switch), whereby playing as Yoshi and interacting with the beam of light (as in, pressing the interaction button as opposed to looking up into the light) brings up the message seen in the screenshot. It can not be seen on that save file after the switch is activated.

This is a curious case of a message being likely to be seen by part of the audience while unlikely to be seen by another. Players who have not played the original Super Mario 64 are more likely to not know what the light is and interact with it as Yoshi. On the other hand, players already familiar with Super Mario 64 would know that Mario is required to use the Wing Cap, skipping this dialogue.

Top: the Super Mario 64 box art.

Middle: development files for the game contained a version of the box art without Mario or most of the overlay, though leaving the planet and a glow effect from the logo.

Bottom: the development image was instrumental in finding the original photo used for the sky, which comes from a commercial texture CD. Now, all traces of Mario have truly been removed.

Public art installation featuring Mario, exhibited at the Italian town of Pietrasanta in 2025. The statue was made by sculptor Filippo Tincolini as part of a "Human Connections" exhibition, which according to the artist is supposed to "reimagine digital icons as modern myths".
