the song is about gabriella; lestat sings "gabriella" while the tenor sings "mama" over him. lestat is coming to terms that he cannot separate the two, that it is indeed his mother abusing him
putting aside everything else I could say about the finale and season overall, I almost wish there was a bit more conflict for loustat. I liked the setup about how they were reconnecting and the book got in the way of that and brought up all this stuff for them. I was excited about the slow burn and angry simmering. but then in episode 2 they confront each other about the book and the issue mostly dissolves. they spend time apart, and then regina brings them back together in a pretty seamless way. I guess they kind of spiral when they don't have each other but they just keep picking up where they left off. I suppose in a season full of chaos they find an ocean of calm in each other, but I am curious about how it would have been if that confrontation had come a bit later or had been woven throughout the season.
