World Cups have historically been used to whitewash the image of countries with serious internal problems and accusations of human rights violations. Why couldn't people use it to give visibility to these issues?

Why are peripheral countries forbidden from making football political, while central/Western countries use it to cleanse their image of systematic violations of migrants' rights, of their involvement in wars, genocides, and armed conflicts, of their inaction in the face of a narco-violence crisis and thousands of disappeared people?

That the Argentine national team displays a flag that says "LAS MALVINAS SON ARGENTINAS" and that it reaches the entire planet seems legitimate to me. Because the sovereignty claim is a just cause, even if it hurts some.
