Where are all the other pokemon you've caught? Do you miss them?
I'd need to check my Pokedex to know exactly how many, but I'm pretty sure it was over 240. And I do find myself wondering about the rest of my pokémon. Obviously. If they're anything like my current team, I'm sure my other mains are worried sick about where their Trainer has gone off too... But I'm sure they're living a good life on the research ranch outside Violet City (where all my Pokémon are teleported when I exceed six in my party).
I wonder how Kingsley, my Kingdra, is doing… Mr. Spoons, my Kadabra... Ember, my Flareon… Spooks the Haunter... So many I didn’t bring on this trip and may never get to see again.
Since you seem to be a connoisseur, what are your preferred alcohol and tobacco products?
Given my current situation of acquiring luxuries via whatever Joey can pilfer from clumsy trainers and picnickers, I can't be choosey, but as a human I always enjoyed a good glass of Talon Whiskey or an Orange Islands Rum and cola. As for smoking, my brand of choice was Lucky Catch ("Luckies"), but I have become fond of Seven Leagues charcoal filtered cigarettes, seeing as they're the most commonly smoked ones in Hoenn and therefore the most readily available.
What was your experience with Team Rocket when you were a human?
I was born and raised in Johto, and extensively traveled Kanto, so I am quite familiar with Team Rocket. It’s next to impossible to be a competitive League certified trainer without having some of those ghouls trying to recruit you into their ranks or steal your rarer pokémon at one point or another. Thankfully, my dealings with them as a trainer were breath, and they never really came after me with much vigor. (Their loss, seeing as my team is friggin’ great.)
Why are you so afraid of finding out what it's like inside a poke ball? Aren't you the least bit curious?
Because I'm not a pokémon! Well, er, I am a pokémon in body, but not in mind. The thought of being trapped and confined in one of those things for any amount of time terrifies me. It isn't something I was ever supposed to experience.
“But Chandler,” you’re probably thinking, “didn’t you spend a large part of your life capturing pokémon in these balls? Didn’t you capture all the pokémon you currently surround yourself with, including your mate?” Yes. Yes, I most certainly did. And you’d better believe I have mixed thoughts about that now that I’ve really gotten to know them as people and not just my battling team. They don’t seem to hold anything against me, as pokémon seem respectful and obedient of trainers who catch and raise them so long as they do it right (which I must have done since they’ve stuck by me). My brain does not operate the same way theirs do, and just thinking about being captured, whether by my own hand or, worse, some random trainer who happens upon me out in the woods… It would be losing my last shred of humanity.
So, call me a hypocrite if you like, but my position is unmovable. I do not wish to ever know that feeling of being captured and having everything I am and ever will be tied to one of those f’ing balls.

If you have spare Pokeballs, have you considered catching yourself so no one else can catch you?
I have enough existential dread as it is, so I don't want to add knowing the inside of a pokeball to my list of strange experiences.
Might as well ask a simple question to pass the time. What’s one of your favorite Pokémon? Could be a current one or one you’ve liked since you were a kid.
Articuno was always the Pokemon I loved as a kid! Even though there aren't any photographs of it in the wild, I OBSESSED over artistic depictions of it. Gorgeous Pokemon. I'd still be ecstatic if I was able to see it in the wild.
Given you and your team's status as non-native, what has been the typical interaction with the wild pokemon there?
Interacting with wild pokemon has been an interesting part of this journey. A lot of them are more intelligent than I ever imagined when I was a trainer (no offense, team).
It's kind of weird, from a human perspective, that none of them take on names of their own, but they all have clear personalities and always manage to tell each other apart. It's like their names are their subtle differences (slight physical variations, scent, etc.). It makes my team and I seem a bit odd to them since we all have names.
so has your transformation affected your ability to speak human languages? I'd imagine it involves quite a bit of relearning and practice
I've been working on my English and have made some progress... but, yeah, it's difficult. My mouth and tongue aren't as suited for it as they used to be (obviously). Still, I think I could hold a basic conversation. Nothing good enough to convince someone I was anything but a Pokemon who picked up a neat trick, but I could do it.
Unfortunately, I sound nothing like I used to. My voice is a higher-pitch and all scratched up, better suited for hissing and cackling calls than what humans are used to.
What kind of laptop do you use?
I use a Silph Co. PokéBook Pro with a matte black finish. I bought it using some of the sponsor money I made competing in the last Pokémon League Championship. Thing is hella durable and resistant to water, so it was ideal for taking on the road as a trainer and has held up living in the wild.

What's an 11th generation Pokégear+?
Do you live under a rock? The Pokégear+ is only one of the best smart devices on the planet! I can browse the web, check my email, GPS... It was also a phone, but I disabled the call function.
Has your family been looking for you?
I don’t know. I answer most text messages, but they really want to talk on the phone and keep asking for a video chat, send a picture, show them I’m okay, and I… what am I supposed to do? I can’t send them a selfie, ‘Sup, fam, I’m a salazzle now.’ And I’ve exhausted all the selfies I had taken pre-transformation, so I can’t fake that everything’s hunky dory either.
[Chandler picks up her 11th generation Pokégear+ and flips through some of the months’ old messages. After a moment of reading, she sighs and sets the Pokégear down, attention returning to the question on her laptop.]
It’s a real crappy situation. My family deserves to know I’m doing okay, but they’d think I was crazy if I told them the truth.
So what moves have you learned to use since your time as a Salazzle? I'm sure fighting 's out of the question, but if you could get your claws on an outfit or 2 that compliment your hips then maybe you can try for the contest or pageant scene.
Disregarding the question about outfits (I am not some doll for people to dress-up!), I can report that I am now proficient with scratch, ember, fire lash, poison fang, sweet scent... But, no, I haven't gotten a hang for the move venoshock. Just getting that out of the way before someone asks that.
How do you have access to the internet?
Fair question. I've basically learned the locations of all the cabins available for rental around these woods. Since the property owner hasn't changed any of the login information, I stop by to keep my devices charged and check to see how the outside world is doing.
Have you tried the pokebeans yet? If so which do you like?
"Yes! They're quite tasty. And maybe it's just because I'm a sucker for color coordination, but I really like the purple and pink ones."

They say you never truly appreciate something until it is lost, so I'm wondering what is it you appreciated most about being human now that you've changed? On the flip side, what do you feel is the biggest advantage to your current body you never had as a human?
I could go on and on about all the things I miss about being a human, but, when you cut it down to the biggest hole in my heart: I miss my family. Mom, Dad, little brother… Without them, it’s like there’s something missing from my soul.
I sent them letters early on full of lies about how everything was okay, but it’s been over a year since I sent the last one. They must be worried sick about me, letting their imaginations run wild pondering what sort of trouble I’ve gotten myself into (the truth is crazier than anything they can imagine). I’d give anything to talk with them again. Let them know that, hey, my situation’s pretty weird, but I’m doing well. They probably wouldn’t understand how I could possibly have come to accept losing my humanity, but I’d mean every word of it. I want them to know their child has found some peace in this mess of a situation she found herself in. I want so badly to feel their arms around me and hear that they still love me... [Chandler sniffs and wipes her eyes.]
Phew. Uh... that was pretty heavy. Let’s move onto the fun part of the question!
Being able to control fire is pretty freaking cool once you get the hang of it. I haven’t had as much use for my venom, since I’m not keen on poisoning anyone, but it’d probably come in handy if I ever get into a nasty pinch. Seeing how my pheromones can influence males can also be fun, although I’m not great at controlling them... So, uh, yeah! Cool stuff...
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need some alone time.
You are cute! How do you feel about your body? Does it feel more like 'yours' yet as opposed to the wrong body?
I am confident now saying that this is my body every bit as much as my human body was. I didn't choose for this to happen, but there are benefits to being a thick-thighed fire lizard that I wouldn't have ever gotten to experience before.
