between the thumping of the bass and her heart beating like a drum, belle wasn't sure which rang louder in her ears. the sudden calm she felt when she saw guadalupe walk through the door didn't last long, as she was immediately pulled back to their last conversation and the way it had ended. still, the liquid courage she'd been sipping on helped, at least a little, and had served it's purpose when she slid the little note under the door to apartment 605 a few hours earlier. somewhat brave, yet incredibly stupid, she thought now. if she was lucky, lupe would just think of it as an olive branch. for her, maybe it'd be the closure she needed. either way, not her best idea given where they stood but it was too late to take it back now.
belle took a moment to stare unabashedly while she had the chance. dark brown hues traced a slow, familiar path up and down, taking in the most perfect sight. dressed in her favorite color, no less. the detail felt intentional. personal, in a way coincidence could never be. she let lupe melt into the crowd, just long enough that she wouldn't feel ambushed by the redhead, glancing back in her direction ever so often as to not lose complete sight. once she'd deemed enough time had passed and lupe finally stood alone, belle drew in a steadying breath and crossed the room. if she thought too hard about what she wanted or should say, she'd lose her nerve. with a light hand at lupe's lower back to announce her presence, belle stepped around to face her, close enough to catch her attention fully. "hey.." her voice dropped, softened by uncertainty. "i was hoping to see you here." she smiled sheepishly, careful to keep her eyes on lupe's own. // @venomouslick
