in 2022 gen ai was a fun novelty. needless to say things have changed

to be clear, im not *pro* ai but im also not anti ai. i strongly disagree with the way its being used and i think the environmental impact of data centers is unjustifiable. that being said, i dont think you can assign some kind of morality to a piece of technology, only the people who use it. the whole purpose of technology is to improve peoples lives, but the people in charge of gen ai are Definitely Not using it to improve peoples lives.

I personally refuse to use ai for ideological reasons, but not because i think the technology is evil or whatever. its like, the principle of the thing
