    “Watch it, Vito. Just because I’m driving doesn’t mean I can’t reach over and smack that little grin off your face.” Not that she’d ACTUALLY do that. More like she’d stop the car, find a way to fluster them, and then proceed to tease the shit out of them because it wasn’t fair she was the only one suffering here. “Hehe. I love youse…” Stomach flutters when she turns to look at them, steely gaze settling on her own oaken one as they came to a stop at a light. “I like that… Cheesy as it is it’s like love ties us together. We’re two very different people from different world’s and culture’s, but at the end of the day that simple phrase is what brings us together like this.” 

    The old her would have gagged at such a line, but then again the old her hadn’t enamored with the being currently sitting beside her. “Hah, it’s almost funny to think back on how we used to be. Remember that one time we ran into each other in the forest while youse were looking for- I don’t even remember what it was- and I ended up getting roped into helping youse? God, youse got under my skin so badly that day.” 

    She squeezes their hand some as she chuckles, reluctantly turning her eyes away from them as a green flash caught her attention signaling her to put her foot on the gas. “Or that time I was dumb and listened to youse about that house and that it wasn’t really haunted. I froze up in that basement! That was absolutely horrifying. I couldn’t sleep for weeks after that and even now when I’m alone I sometimes remember it and panic.” 

         “ YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO help me, but you definitely made the entire trip far more fun than it would have been. ” although, it was probably infinitely more fun for iovita than it was for her, considering that they really had spent the entire time getting under her skin. “ I was looking for snakeroot. I still have the seedling I found when we were out there, albeit much more grown, now. ” they also distinctly remember throwing a stick, too, just to be an asshole; no regrets on their part either, and, to be perfectly honest, they’d probably do the same thing again.

         they do wince at the haunted house mention. “ I’m sorry that is stuck with you so much. I honestly didn’t really think it was haunted. I didn’t feel anything up until we got close to the basement. it gave me a bit of a fright, too, if I’m being honest. ” especially considering the thing had been powerful. they turn their own attention back to the road briefly, watching the passing scenery but not absorbing it, and then back at her. “ I’ll keep the ghosts away from you, catella. just say the word and I’ll see them out. ”

         " WHAT THE HELL IS that supposed to mean? ” there’s something tense in the way they grouse back, shoulders drawn up and winded tight. they seem to freeze a second later, and then let their shoulders slump.

         “ I’m just... nervous about something is all, ” they say eventually. “ stressed, even, you could say. ” it’s col, it always boils down to col and his fucking hounds. they had found a pinned note to the door of inter mundos the other day, blood-red ink in the crude sketch of a spanish hound. they had burnt it as soon as they crumpled it in their hand, but it’s more than enough of a calling card to make them restless. someone out there is well aware that they’ve grown more stagnant than usual. 

          but... they don’t want to do what they often do, for once in their life. they want to stay here for longer, with loni and both of their’s home and every trace of happiness and comfort they can lap up. disappearing halfway across the world, as of right now, is something that seems more like a chore, especially if it’s only to shake hunters off their tail. they’re sure they’ll have the actual itch to travel eventually, because that’s something they could never grow out of. old habits die hard, and all that.
