BARELY. and the first thing you do is take the out of control fighter jet on a spin in an active war zone, fire and arrows and scorpion bolts raining down from all sides. because that's surely going to go well.

Thinking about that "you can't identify as both provocative and afraid of provoking" post and I think a thing that goes alongside that is: you cannot pride yourself on being blunt and "telling it like it is" and "taking no bullshit" and also expect endless grace and leeway from others. If you are always going to assume bad faith and respond sharply and without grace for others, then you should expect the same from people around you when you do or say something that could be read poorly, as rude or mean or passive-aggressive. All of that is a two-way street. And if you suddenly feel that's unfair and people should give you the benefit of the doubt in some cases, then you should maybe be considering where you want to give others the benefit of the doubt as well.
