okay so. this was such a jumpscare for me. imagine you spend like four hours straight skimming through comments on an account choob interacted with a handful of times looking for other comments. and you see this

first thought i had was, oh, that's a weird coincidence! surely there's no way that our etal is the same person. i don't know much about him but he didn't really seem like a cringe mid 00s deviantart user to me. surely not.

jk. thanks @sterjin for lending a helping hand :) i was formatting the urls in the wrong way to get older results on wayback machine (username.da.com (old) vs. da.com/username (new)), so we found:

never mind LOL. i mean, this is (afaik) the only instance we have of his full name. so it could just be... a very weird coincidence that there are two independently existing eta1yx's named alan who are in the same age group... but i really doubt it lol

so we do have proof of str and etal following the same accounts (i found two instances), but im still cautious to say they actually knew each other bc there are no direct interactions between the two. the accounts they were interacting with were somewhat big, but not very big, so it's not like everyone on da was interacting there.. ultimately, i just think it is a weird coincidence (for now. unless i find more evidence lol)

unlike str, all of his posts/comments that i could find were pretty normal, like this one ^

one of the main strategies i used to find new content was going through the list of people following or followed by str. the first discovery i made was strs myspace account, which i found through looking through jin's myspace account...
