I'm sorry (actually no I'm not) but if you think Johan Liebert is nothing more than a mindless killer who murders people just for sadistic pleasure then I'm afraid you missed the entire point of the fucking story
the POINT of MONSTER (2004) is that ordinary PEOPLE can become MONSTERS and that johan's UPBRINGING did not INHERENTLY make him a MONSTER
trinity is not used to aftercare. with yolanda, it might be a glass of water and the opportunity to use the shower but after that, itās backs turned and the expectation that she leaves quietly and discreetly.
she assumes thatās what baran would want too. after all, sheās an attending. she canāt be seen with a resident.
so, when trinity spends the night at baranās and quietly sneaks out once she falls asleep, she assumes this is how theyāre going to go. out of the frying pan, into the fire, or however the stupid saying goes.
sheās not massively mad about it.
baran doesnāt have neighbours that watch her through a crack in the door or a doorman to do the walk of shame past nor do her floorboards creak when sheās tiptoeing down the hallway. no, her place is much easier to sneak out of.
that being said, she lives a lot further away from trinityās apartment than yolanda does and itās too late for ubers to be a reasonable price so she toughs it out and walks it, crashing the minute she gets through the door.
itās fine. it was worth the evening.
the real trouble is when she gets to work.
trinity assumes itāll just be another standard we-pretend-we-are-colleagues-and-nothing-else act that sheās used to. a lingering glance here and there perhaps, maybe a nod layered with something behind their eyes, but nothing more. baranās a private, professional person, even more so than yolanda.
which is why sheās surprised when baran walks into the er with red-rimmed eyes, frazzled hair and a worried look on her face that says she hasnāt slept all night.
āwhere the hell did you go?ā
there exists a real divide in the pitt fandom of the chronically online robinavitch hatedom and 40 year old medical professionals and managers/team leaders who find robinavitch incredibly relatable and realistic as a character
I'm so close to having a coherent thought about this, but I find it very interesting how violent behaviour is viewed in characters, versus other sorts of antisocial behaviour (-phobias, -isms, etc). maybe it's the perceived separation from reality? because if you're lucky, nobody in your life will ever slit anyone's throat, so you get to view it as an abstract and fantastical action. it's pure play! whereas if a character says something like "you look fat in those jeans", BAM! instant hatred, because now you can link it to painful moments in your own life. even though the people you've heard those words from (moms, aunties, grandmas) are probably people that you still love.
which is why you get all these books that embrace hyper violence but flinch away from any -phobias and -isms, because that would be uncomfortable.
what makes the dissonance especially jarring is that viewing violence as abstract is a privilege. in Canada and the States, we get to sit comfortably in our homes while our governments fund weapons and send troops to inflict violence overseas. and sure, we can watch a genocide live-streamed on social media, but it still feels distant.
don't confuse this as me saying violence shouldn't be written about! everything should be written about! it's more me wondering why violence feels comfortable to write about, when arguably milder social offences do not.

i am jesus and soldier boy's sweaty pits are my gethsemane
my take on the evolution of what i call the "white american man as designed by a japanese game developer in the early 2000s" phenotype
broke: girlfriend cleaned jacket's apartment
bespoke: jacket cleaned up his own apartment for her and she simply added the feminine touches (the throw pillows on the couch, the green table cloth and flowers, the laundry hamper in the bathroom)
if you are a ftm chase truther do not also headcanon him into a completely different character. he canonically likes sports, cars, and gets hella bitches. he's using 3-in-1 body wash and dressing in a white t-shirt and basketball shorts to run errands. his ass is NOT wearing a skirt or painting his nails

that schizoid avoidant attached man will NOT save you š«µ
the appeal of house is entirely because it came out in 2005, when financial medical anxiety was starting to enter the forefront of peoples' minds. imagine this doctor who, above all else, wants to cure you. he resents the economic aspects of the medical system and openly mocks them. he will not sell a drug he does not genuinely believe will help you. here is a doctor who will lie to his fellow doctors, his boss, his boss's boss, and a board that can disbar him just so you can receive the treatment you need. he is a funny, confrontational asshole about it, but he will respect you as a patient in need of care and it will supercede all other priorities in his care. he was a symbolic representation of what many americans wanted from their healthcare: no bullshit, just treatment. part of it is rooted him in seeing people as puzzles to solve and diagnostic medicine as the avenue to make a career out of that, but there are several instances in season 1 of him going the extra mile for a patient that can only be explained as wanting better for them. he is what americans idealize as an actor of the hippocratic oath.
unfortunately, later seasons thought the appeal was just him being a funny, confrontational asshole and lost sight of him being the advocate for patients, so it soon became his defining trait that he was just a huge cunt who would fuck with patients and even outright torture them at times just for his own curiosity.
how fucking insane would it have been if they had written this in as canon instead of the blackhole that is camerons family and childhood that we actually get, and this as the reason to why shes so fried.. can one of u beautiful house md psychoanalisers get on this asap
(this is from the house: official guide under cameronās section)
i am thoroughly cameron house fire-pilled especially when i combine it with my headcanon of her growing up as an evangelical. of course she finds a sense of identity in endeavoring to be a good person, because Good People are rewarded and Bad People are punished. chase similarly grew up religious (though catholic) but the dysfunctional way he was raised taught him that bad people often do not go punished or are even rewarded (rowan never got punished for leaving chase to take care of his abusive alcoholic mother alone, his mother never got punished for being said abusive alcoholic, rich people are rewarded for antisocial behavior, therefore chase exhibits antisocial traits himself in S1, such as being a rat and apathy). cameron didn't grow up like this, so her sense of morality is much more retributive.
then, her siblings die in the fire.
but her siblings weren't bad people, why do they die and not someone more deserving? why is she the one that gets to live and is saddled with the guilt after? maybe she's getting punished. maybe she's inherently bad. unfixable, as she calls herself in lockdown. she may be bad, but other people can still be good.
i hate when an older vocaloid song is remade and the only thing they do is make the vocaloid sing off-key and take away their breath control (i guess for realism). it's the song equivalent of remaking an action game with snappy, instantaneous movement and adding a shit ton of movement inertia and suck-to-target.

going down the astarionmancer to raphaelmancer pipeline is like going from poppers to straight fent
the stupidest circle of hell is when you're like oh this ship is SO obviously supported by canon surely everyone must talk about it and then you find out the dedicated popular yaoi is some total bullshit
being a manny pardo fan in the hotline miami fandom from 2021 to 2023 and having to deal with unfunny thick skin jokes, moralfagging about how terrible manny is (like almost every hotline playable isn't as bad or worse than him), and ev*nny being the most popular manny ship
