Result of an all nighter planning routes
that poll going around of the guy who thought "people only eat tofu as a bit because they're deranged vegans" or whatever really crystalizes something that i have never been able to precisely say - which is "a nonzero fraction of people who start picky-eater discourse just happen to precisely hate those foods which are not from north america and refuse to introspect on this whatsoever"
In contrast some people say "there aren't any picky eaters in Asia 🙄" but this is laughably untrue. I have a cousin in India who refused until his 20s to eat anything in a sauce. as you can imagine in India this was difficult. he basically had to pick things out of curry and wipe them dry
Pokemon struggling to get laid during their breeding season so it sniffs out some trans girl on her pokemon journey and kidnaps her...
whenever you have some vague thought about "i wonder how x works" i highly recommend you pull up a tab and investigate that thought. i get that it can be hard to find resources and im not saying you have to devote all your time to pursuing momentary thoughts but its a great way to encourage your curiosity. i just spent some time reading about digestion the other day and it was cool as hell. idk. learning is fun if you let yourself be interested

real punk is about superficially aligning your politics or aesthetics with a counter-culture while ultimately holding mainstream and/or conservative political views

I feel like I need to get back into reading. During the FE Three Houses era, I almost entirely stopped reading fanfiction, and given the way my rural underfunded public school system treated me*, I never exactly got into published literature.
*(read: the elementary/middle school that literally did not have a special education program because it "wasn't in the budget", and was just praying not to get sued over it (they did eventually), wasn't exactly equipped to acknowledge, much less work with my autism or then-undiagnosed ADHD)
When I can find the focus to just sit down and read, it's enjoyable enough. It's not the "completely sucked into the world and enamored with every little detail" type of experience I always hear about, but it's enjoyable. The problem's just getting there, and actually finding that level of concentration to be able to comprehend and digest the text, as opposed to just skimming.
Much as I like to try and come off like the well-knowledged intellectual type, it's frankly a major sore spot that I don't actually read. For the vast majority of what could charitably be called my reading career, I only consumed fanfiction, and even then I lost the ability to sit through that years ago. The last time I was really able to focus on a piece of literature was when I picked up Fahrenheit 451 at my city's Barnes and Noble after therapy one day a couple months back. I remember really enjoying it, as I'd never got the chance to read it or much of anything else in high school for myriad reasons. Even if I did enjoy what I read of the book, I sure as hell couldn't tell you anything about it now, not even the protagonist's name.
I'm not exactly looking for recommendations or anything. I know for sure that if I am going to be spending a lot of time reading, it probably needs to be in an environment where I can't really do much of anything else. Whether that means throwing me into a book store and picking me up in an hour or two, or locking me in a shed with a printed-out Netteflix fanfic, who can really say?
Hm. If someone's going to do that, perhaps I should invest in a pager.
