Some parallels between Harry/Hermione and James/Lily I found after rereading the books and rewatching the movies:
Lily/Hermione is slightly older than James/Harry.
Lily/Hermione is a Muggle-born witch. James/Harry comes from the family of wizards.
Lily/Harry had a very complicated relationship with at least one living relative. On the other hand, James/Hermione had a great, loving relationship with his/her parents.
James/Lily and Harry/Hermione were forced to go into hiding together in order to defeat Voldemort.
James/Harry comes from a rich family. Lily/Hermione, on the other hand, comes from the middle-class/poor background.
James and Lily were both killed by Avada Kedavra. Harry and Hermione were both tortured and scarred.
Lily did not like James at first and only started bonding with him after he outgrew his bully mindset. Harry did not like Hermione at first and only became close friends with her after saving her from the troll.
James and Lily were immediately sorted into Gryffindor without any problem. Harry and Hermione were both considered for more than one House (Harry-Slytherin, Hermione-Ravenclaw).
James and Lily were betrayed by Peter Pettigrew. Harry and Hermione were betrayed by Marietta Edgecombe (or by Cho Chang in the movies).
James/Harry was well known for his Quidditch skills. Hermione/Lily was well known for her intelligence.
Quick sketch. Sorry for quality

Come take my hand, I won't let you go
I'll be your friend, I will love you so deeply
I will be the one to kiss you at night
I will love you until the end of time
There's nothing between us but space and time
I'll be your own little star, let me shine in your world
In your own little universe, make me your girl
End of time - Beyoncé
The “I’m glad this ship isn’t canon because it would’ve been too cliche/predictable/hero gets the main girl trope is so tiresome” take is such a fake ass performative nothingburger take. If that’s the case, why isn’t anybody outraged that Percy and Annabeth ended up together?

The other day, I saw someone on Reddit note how Harry and Hermione use each other's wands.
It is wild to me that in the very first book - the same book where Olivander introduces us to the fated nature of Harry's wand and it being the brother wand to Voldemort's - Hermione casually takes Harry's wand to cast alohomora during their chase after the stone.
And, as reddit also pointed out, stark contrasts are drawn between the blackthorn wand that Ron gives Harry and Hermione's wand. Harry isn't noted to struggle to cast spells with Hermione's wand - he effortlessly casts a shield charm in fact. He certainly struggles with the blackthorn wand. And this is in Deathly Hallows, the other book where wand lore is presented by Olivander.
So, we have Harry commenting actively on how the blackthorn wand doesn't work well. But even before that, Ron struggled with a hand-me-down wand, and the books emphasize that wands are mercurial in a way. Harry is successful with Draco's wand because he overcame Draco. He can wield the Elder wand for a similar wand-lore reasons. Voldemort is shown using a variety of wands, but they aren't ideal and he is constantly seeking the right wand to defeat Harry.
But Harry and Hermione wield each other's wands without trouble from the get-go.
There's a few places in the books where magic is implied to signal underlying compatibility. James and Lily's patronuses are the obvious example. So it feels meaningful (though certainly unintentional) that Harry and Hermione - who have very different wands - are evidenced to use each other's wands without issue.
Particularly, it seems odd that Hermione can use Harry's wand so readily when Harry's wand is one of the most deeply magical in the series. Of all the wands we meet, the three most magically special in the series are the Elder Wand, Voldemort's, and Harry's.
So this girl who is in no way tied (other than her deep affection for Harry) to that entire deal can just use Harry's very magical wand? Really?
Just feels like another moment where the story knew what it wanted to be before it was contorted into what it became.

GET TO KNOW ME MEME: Favorite Romantic Relationships [2/?] ↳ Harry Potter & Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
That afternoon still lingered fresh in his mind, like oil paint on a canvas of memories.
Hermione had invited Harry to read in silence beside her, away from Hogwarts, away from the glances, the tensions, and the gossip that echoed through the corridors.
At one point, when desire won out, he set his own book down on the grass and watched her in that warm silence.
Her curls bathed in the golden light of the sun, her delicate fingers resting at the edges of the pages, her eyes focused even on the intricacies of the footnotes.
Hermione.
His best friend, Hermione.
A living spirit of pure intellectual charm and innocent beauty that made the rest of the world lose its importance, made his heart warm and time pass.
Hermione then slowly looked up and noticed he had been watching her for longer than he probably realized.
"Everything okay?" she asked, her voice carrying that characteristic concern of hers.
Harry just smiled.
"I think so."
Hermione looked toward the castle reflected on the surface of the Black Lake.
"Hogwarts is beautiful from here, isn't it?"
Harry took a few seconds to answer.
"Yeah..." he said finally, his voice low. "It's beautiful."
He wasn't talking about the castle.
But Hermione didn't need to know that.
At least not yet.

maybe this is a chronically online take but a lot of autistic people are chronically online so it bears observing. the idea that Those Neurotypicals just Naturally have an easy time Being Kind And Offering Comfort — unlike We Oppressed Autistics — is false. reminds me of “women are biologically more caring” tbh. are all callous people autistic? fuck no! every skill is learned. every skill. if someone is habitually selfless, it’s because they have internalized the habit of being selfless. if someone is particularly good at navigating your emotions, they have intentionally developed that skill. not bc they’re Blessed and it’s just Easy for them but bc they decided you were worth the effort it takes to learn and employ that skill. when a friend trusts you enough to come to you with a private pain & you tell them “sorry, i’m not good at emotional support” what you’re actually saying is “you’re not worth the effort it takes to learn and employ emotional support” & when you’re already hurting, that’s a pretty shit thing to hear
