On the one hand, why the actual fuck would you bring Chris, amnesiac, possibly still suffering a brain injury, definitely deeply traumatized, into the field, into COMBAT, PUT HIM IN CHARGE OF PEOPLE, and then have the nerve to look surprised when he struggles.

They’re basically BOWs.

Leon was infected on some solo mission (no one knows, he keeps it a secret). It wasn’t a bite, rather some mysterious substance that was forced down his throat. The scientist behind it died, his research burned, leaving Leon alone to figure out what’s wrong. He was given some vaccine by DSO but it didn’t work, leaving behind cravings for blood, light sensitivity and other vamp-like qualities.

Chris was bitten by a lycan during RE8, the infection spread and mutated in him, leaving behind werewolf-like symptoms, even through he was not implanted with the cadeau and Miranda is dead. He informed his squad and Rebecca, but there’s no cure as of yet.

Although they’re infected by a virus of some sorts. In a story typical fashion, they seem to get along as well as vampires and werewolves tend to do. So not well.

Chris stinks in Leon’s opinion (that’s not quite true, but he keeps on lying to himself), and Leon makes Chris uneasy, causing hair to stand on end whenever he’s near (which is also not quite true).
