Courageous

You like her based on those two facts about her? She’s an awful harpy of a woman with no redeeming qualities to her whatsoever. But she was a good beater, I suppose. [ he snorts ] That’s not going to happen. 

"Well she’s a beater, that’s a redeeming quality.” She smirked. “Us ladies gotta stick together... But I was kidding, I reserve judgement on people until I meet them. I don’t judge one way or the other based on others stories. Otherwise I never would have liked you, you’ve got a reputation.” She pointed out. “That’s okay, at least you’re out here.”

“Oh no, I’m terrible at dancing!” They do their best, though, wiggling their shoulders a bit. “You’re definitely better at this than I am.”

"No one cares! Everyone is just having fun. As long as you are too, it doesn’t matter how good you are!”

I know, it totally blows. I gotta’ do Christmas breakfast with my folks in the morning too, so I’m just all around screwed. [ she grins ] Nice! I guess you are around a lot more here, yeah. I’ve definitely liked having you around more. How’s training going?

"Oh damn... Well... at least it won’t be a boring Christmas, right?” She shrugged a bit hoping that was a positive spin on things right? “It’s going great. Of course, it started off pretty rough but now that things calmed a bit it’s been a lot but in a good way?” She’d started not too long before an attack and had jumped right into that. Of course, she’d been prepared because that was why she joined. That was why she changed things up. To protect. To help.

Right? And you’d think making them fly would be a lot easier with magic, like it’s perfect. [ she laughs ] Either way it’s gonna’ be a night of groovy tunes. Wish I could drink more, but alas, I gotta’ work in four hours. What are you up to tonight?

"Exactly!” She agreed. “Four hours? Damn that sucks.” Dorcas sighed but she understood. Work called when work called. “I’m meeting my family later on in the evening for Christmas so I’m actually pretty excited. I've seen them more since training for being an Auror than I did when I was a curse breaker the entire time.”

Wrong, I’m exactly as awful as people think I am. [ he smiles slightly, though ] That’s true. My sister was beater for the Slytherin team, and she’s built like a four foot ten tank. Alright, is this good enough? [ he sways back and forth slightly ] 

"I disagree, but you’re entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong i think it is.” She smirked. “Really?!” She beamed just at hearing this, she loved quidditch but she was highly biased towards other beaters, especially women. “I like her already.” She grinned. “I’ll accept this, but don’t be afraid to break it down if you want too.” She laughed a little, and kept her own dancing gentle and close to him just in case.

They follow Dorcas to the dance floor and raise their eyebrows. “Okay, let’s– let’s see these moves.”

"Okay okay!” She laughed and as the song switched to a new one she started moving with the music, slightly singing along as well. “C’mon, you too!”

The only thing I’ll be killing on the dance floor is my reputation as a person that hates fun or any sort of social obligation. Dancing at Frank and Alice’s wedding was bad enough as it is. [ he snorts ] I’m sure you are. 

"That’s not a bad thing... you know you’re not as awful as you let everyone think you are.” Dorcas rose her brows at him curiously. “Oh how awful dancing.” She grinned. "I used to be beater for Hufflepuff you know- you have to have some muscle for that.”

Wilda grins as Dorcas introduces herself. “That’s cool. I thought about being an Auror once. Uh, yeah, I’m on the Puddlemore United team.” She’s *still* not used to being recognized, it throws her off every time. A beat of silence, and then she remembers she’s supposed to introduce herself. “Oh, shit, sorry. I’m Wilda, Wilda Griffiths.” Do not blush, girl, you’re smoother than this.

"I was going do it right out of school, but decided to do cursebreaker... but with everything going on here I didn’t want to keep being away every time something serious happened. I wanted to be able to help.” She nodded.”I actually used to play in school. I was one of the beaters for Hufflepuff.” Doe grinned and grabbed her hand, she hadn’t been drinking but she was enjoying the others reactions, so when Wilda introduced herself she grabbed her hand gently and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. “Pleasure to meet you, officially.”

“Sounds like a solid– solid enough evaluation to me. I’ll let– let you know what I think once I’ve seen your sweet dance moves, how about that?”

"Sounds like a plan to me, so let’s go!” Dorcas flashed a wide grin at Anthea and motioned for them to follow her.

Right? Like, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer isn’t a thing. Which blows  my  mind. [ she laughs ] Sounds like a fair  policy to me. Celestina usually manages to steal my heart with  a song of hers each year,  but the Weird Sisters have some sweet  new singles out  this  year. 

"Yeah! How is that possible!? I don’t get it! They have reindeer!” Dorcas sighed, perhaps a little over dramatically but she was grinning, not as distressed as she might sound. “Those are always safe bets, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re in the top three.”
