“What do you want me to say?” Nemo repeated. He was getting real tired of running and the only way to make her stop was stop telling her to stop apparently

“    I don’t know. Just...” There’s an awkward pause.  “...Just stop being mad at me.”

Nemo just put his foot down, defeated. “Okay,” he shouted. “What do you want me to say then? Huh?”

“Uh-” This is where she’s stuck. She honestly hadn’t thought of anything after running with his shoe, she hadn’t really been thinking when she was doing that. Just that she was trying to get a reaction other than him telling her to fuck off. 

“Apparently it’s not that cold, but I’m a texas boy so anything below 70 is freezing to me.”

“It’s cold enough for me to be waiting for death’s warm embrace, so it’s cold.”

“Come BACK!” He hopped after her, but he tripped slightly and his sock touched something wet. “Stop! I’m not being a dick, you are!”

“No fuckin’ way!” She slows down to stand and watch him hop after her. “Shut the fuck up, Nemo.”

He blinked a few times. Asshole??? He takes of his own shoe also, wanting to return the favor, and oh FUCK. He missed. Nemo, you fucking moron.

Okay so he might’ve missed, but what the fuck. Throwing shoes was her thing. And so she puts on her own shoe, takes Nemo’s and walks right out of the door not saying a word to Nemo. 

“Ah. So now it is my fault? It’s not my fault it’s yours. Just to be fucking clear.”

“Fine. How. How the fuck is it my fault? This is on you. Stop acting like the fucking victim all the time. I’m the one who got me sent back to that shitty school, I’m the one who was forced to up and move her life for six months. I’m the one who lost her only friend in the entire fucking world because he’s a fucking idiot and couldn’t just not have coffee for one fucking night, Nemo. It wasn’t you that had to do all that. This is your fault.”

“I know but you could’ve fucking called or send a text at least you fucking dickface.”

“My Dad took my fucking phone and deleted a lot of the contacts he didn’t want me to have anymore. And surprise surprise: I don’t know your fucking number off by heart, Nemo. What the hell was I supposed to do? This is your fault anyway!”

“I don’t want to listen to you.”

“Fucking sucks I’m talking anyway, shitass. It wasn’t my fault.”

“I don’t care.”

“That fucking sucks for you, ‘cause I do.”

“Don’t. Because I hate you. And you left and I was alone and I don’t want to listen to you.” None of this was probably true but he was so mad at her.

“That... Wasn’t my fault. That wasn’t my fault.”

“Yo?” He turned away from her. How dare she??

“Shit.” She’ll mutter under her breath. “Nemo      .. I can explain.”

Nemo looked up from his coffee cup, always in for a good moan about the weather but then he saw who stood by the bar. “The fuck Valerie?”
