Lost Time
I begged him. I pleaded. Just hold on. He stood at my door, but wasn't waiting. He followed me, from place to place, a constant on my back. Whether or not I acknowledged him, he never quit. Consistence, something you couldn't rob him of. His name? Time. I remember the Time. When he showed up at the spot called ”right place,” opportunities were made possible. Thank you Time. Back then, things were great between us, told him he’s a good man. Good Time. I told him ‘stay still.’ Let me hold you. A moment, a stage. A Time. Felt like we were flying. Time flies. When he’d go to work, they would count on him. 3,2,1. He counted the show down to the very last second. On Time. Felt like he never slept. Always kept going. He was the difference between life and death. Made seconds feel like hours. In time. On him I relied, but often I tried to discard him. Here’s the deal- Yes, he soared, but then stalled. When we argued he was stagnant. He reared his other side. I told him “Listen Time, you’re at the wrong place.” You’re wrong, Time. Things didn’t work out between us, I told him it was because I wasn’t ready. At the Time. It got complicated. Hard Times. With time comes aging, changes, uncertainty about the future. I’m afraid of what’s ahead. Some Time. We went into OT. Over Time. He looked me straight in the eyes “you’ve got me.” Really, I’ve got you Time? Told me he’s one thing I can count on. Because no matter what, he’ll keep going. Then he did just that. He went. Oh Time. He said fuck you, screwed me over. Out of Time. Had the audacity to say we didn’t have enough Time. Guess I lost track. Lost Time. Time is not ours to change. It is ours to cherish Don’t let it pass you by.
