Not everyone has such simple humor. You wouldn’t have to fly 20 something hours to the zoo, but I’d like to see Australia too,given the chance, so I can’t fault you too much. I heard Christmas went well. Congrats. Nothing to worry about after all.

The 20+ hour flight absolutely was worth Dara being able to hold her favorite animal on the planet. So I have a predilection for over the top grand romantic gestures..sue me. Australia was incredible, and if you get the opportunity to go visit, you absolutely must. And yes, Christmas went better than expected...Mr. and Mrs. Klein essentially...gave me their blessing. Call me old fashioned, but that felt like a major accomplishment.

Rachel, it has been nothing short of a dream.

We’d went to see La Boheme at the opera house just the other night, and it was as breathtaking as I’d imagined. Honestly, one of the most magical nights of my life. We unfortunately did not get to see a show at the STC, but on your recommendation, perhaps another trip to Sydney is necessary.

It’s good to be seen. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you in person. We should change that one of these days. How’ve you been? I did speak with your Dara briefly. I was complimented in the first interaction, so I’m already a fan. I don’t think I’m looking for a partner so much as a distraction and some stress relief, but hopefully I am successful in that.

[She giggles softly, leaning in and pecking Val’s lips.]

[Valentina chews on the question for a moment, the answer both painful, and obvious. Eyes softening, she locks her gaze with Dara’s.]

Coincidentally, he is the one who gave me my first bitters bottle.

[A wry chuckle, as her heart aches in her chest at the thought. Her resolve was normally stronger than steel, but there were rare instances, such as this, where there was just a glimpse of vulnerability. She wouldn’t dare allow it sour this moment she’s sharing with Dara now. Swallowing her emotion, she deposits it as a kiss against the supple skin of Dara’s sun-kissed neck. The pain vanishes at the very moment of contact. Dara keeps her grounded.]

[Valentina allows Dara to tug her into the hallway, down through the lobby and the main doors, where the blinding summer sun awaits them over the Sydney harbor. Off in the distance sits the iconic Sydney Opera house, and Valentina leads the pair toward the boardwalk railing, taking a moment to drink in the view. As Dara’s lithe fingers curl over the painted metal, the CEO wraps an arm around the model’s waist.]

I know it might not be quite as cool as hanging out with kangaroos, koalas and quokkas, but I’ve gotten us orchestra tickets to La Boheme on Monday...

[A wistful sigh escapes Val’s lips, and her grip instinctively tightens.]

Seeing an opera here has always been on my bucket list. Since I was a little girl poking through the antique Encyclopedia Britannica my father kept in his office, and I’d encountered the photos of that incredible building.

[A pause, as Valentine looks into Dara’s eyes.]

Being able to share that with you? Makes it even better.

There are things she has kept from her though - Avi things, worries. Things that she wants to push way down, but doesn’t know if she can.]

My love, are you ready to go?

[The blonde model walks from the bathroom to the bedroom in their hotel suite.]

I want to get this walk in before the jetlag sets in again. That and the exhaustion from how much fun we had last night.

[Dara walks over to Valentina, her hands splaying on the woman’s chest as she leans in for a kiss.]

[Valentina feels the breath leave her lungs as Dara’s lips press against hers. Unbeknownst to the blonde, nearly 24 years ago to the day, Val had been on her honeymoon with Ezio--not in Australia, but in Mykonos. And though it (only slightly) pains her to admit it, this trip with Dara has eclipsed it. Within a day of arrival, already Valentina feels as giddy as she did when the words “I love you, Dara Klein” first left her lips. She kisses a line down to the hollow of Dara’s exquisite throat.]

Mmm...last night was incredible...I think that might be a new record for me, dolcezza mia.

[Stepping away, her right hands seek the blondes, threading their fingers immediately. With her left she gestures toward their hotel room door.]
