The natural color of the pure sheep wool is the main color of the bag. The flap is decorated with an elegant geometric design: three horizontal stripes, colored in brick-red, black and beige are intersected with 2 triangles drawn with natural-wool color, black and brown lines. On the body of the bag a very simple zig-zagged black line, symbolizing the water wave or the tortuous path, contributes to the balance of the overall design.
This impressive yet simple geometric design, proving symmetry and equilibrium is characteristic to the Moldavian ethnographic area. The colors of the yarns are obtained from various plants or minerals
The bag has a braided woolen strap. The flap ends with rich wavy woolen fringes.

They are hand painted with highly stylized floral motifs colored with fern-green and gingerbread-brown. On each one’s bottom there is written the name of the product’s region of origin: Korond (Corund). Being individually handcrafted, the tiny pitchers are not 100% identical. These tiny pitchers are used for drinking our famous plum brandy.

Corund ceramic plate with raised painting - Romanian authentic handmade folk art
This is a decorative handcrafted ceramic plate from Corund (Korond), elaborately ornamented with raised painting. The diameter is about 22.5 cm (8.85 in).

It is hand painted with highly stylized Corund specific floral motifs, colored with fern-green, gingerbread-brown, ochre and with black contour. Also, in the center of the plate there is a capercaillie facing left. The plate is framed by a garland of flowers and leaves.
Only the interior of Corund plates is enameled.
The outer edge of the plate is elegantly waved. On the margin that forms the base of the plate there are two orifices used when the decorative plate is hanged on the wall.

This small decorative woolen rug is a piece of authentic Romanian folk art, handcrafted in Oltenia region, the south-western part of Romania, between the Carpathians and the Danube. It has been woven in an ancient wooden horizontal loom. It is a simple, natural rug made of pure wool dyed with natural colors. Both sides of the rug are identical (reversible rug).
It contains an ancient traditional romanian symbol, the Tree of Life (Pomul Vietii). The tree is represented by a tall branched plant with stylized colorful flowers, growing in a small flowerpot. A pair of birds staying face to face on its branches are guarding the Tree of Life. They are represented with the heads up, and they have long, split tails.
The natural color of the pure wool forms the background. The stylized flowers are colored in shades of brown, brick-red, ochre and gray. The stem of the Tree of Life is brown, with a little grey at the base. One of the birds has an ochre color, with black and gray wings, and the other is dark dusty-pink and has slightly darker wings than the first bird. The pot from which the plant grows has a brick-red color with different darker shades.
At both ends the rug has hand-knotted white cotton fringes.

Horezu unglazed decorative plate - Romanian authentic handmade folk art

We present you a decorative ceramic plate, a piece of authentic Romanian folk art handcrafted in Horezu (Oltenia ethnographic area, south-western Romania) by local artisans, with respect and commitment to our millenary traditions.
It is decorated using a special technique specific to the ancient Horezu folk art, called “jiravire”, that is applied before the paint dries, using a tool called “gaita”. “Gaita” (meaning “the jay”) is a small brush specific to Horezu artizans, made of 4 or 5 thin and hard hairs of wild boar. First, the craftsman draws on the plate a spiral, using a paint brush made of a horn (see its description in the bellow section). While the plate continues to spin on the potter's wheel he performs the second operation: by alternatively moving the “gaita” brush from the edge of the plate to the center and back, he “pulls” the color that is still wet, moving it without breaking its continuous line. The result is an exquisite drawing, similar to a spiderweb.This process requires a very high level of skill and precision, and also rapidity.
On this plate the radial composition is coloured in brown, pale blue, dusty peach-orange, and cream-white. Various patterns of natural inspiration, like flowers and leaves, have been added to complete this elaborate work of folk art. To keep the natural colors and ceramic texture unchanged this plate is not enameled, emphasizing its rustic aspect.
