Rarity (Regina Robinson-Wade):
Although both of her parents are black, Regina's dad comes from London but he went to post-secondary school in Paris, while her mother is from Queens, NY.
Although she never really was taught by her dad, she loved french class in high school.
She was also apart of choir and competitive choir, so she sings at her Catholic church too!
Her parents knew from a young age, she'd grow up to be the refined and sensitive woman she is because when she was little, kids would call her "Gina" while they'd call her "Gi Gi," and either way she hated it.
She'd reemphasize, "it's Re-giiina!" And if somebody dismissed her wish or infantilized her, she'd cry and sulk.
However, Joetta Alma-Jean Smith (AJ) was the only one out of all their friends to call her, "Gin."
That burned a hole in Regina's soul everytime she called her that even after she told her not to.
But eventually, she chose not to care, writing it off as a Southern thing, taking it extremely better than what the others expect from her.
Regina didn't actually express her most severe emotions to her parents as a kid because they were more worried about her little sister or they'd say as a big sister, she has to “act a little tougher” and be the “strong one”
which is why her outbursts are so frequent now around her friends.
She's an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and she takes the self diagnosis srsly thank ya!
In the friend group, Regina is actually the oldest, being 27.
Her friends have nicknamed her Rare, tho
She started her first business at 15, treating it more as a pop up shop in school where she could sell basic but cute school-friendly designs of hers and after school, sell designs she went all out on because she didn’t have her own building yet
She was popular especially for her seasonal sales like homecomings, proms, etc, so it was only fair that the drama department recruited her to make costumes and such.
She kept developing her business in the fashion club she founded and outside of it, after school, in her teen years
When she graduated, she went to cosmetology school to be a “jack of all trades”
Now she’s been working on getting her bachelors in accounting through online school for three years now
Her hair is naturally medium-length (sitting midway down her neck), and it hasn't grown out since she was eight.
Usually she doesn't wear her natural length out, but installs her own clip-in and tape-in extensions or wigs because she hates sew in weaves.
When she does get her hair done by others, she absolutely loves getting feathered silk presses and blowouts
And trust she don't PLAY about wrapping her hair up every night and putting the right bonnet on so it don't fall off!
She wears fake eyelash clusters because her eyelashes are incredibly invisible it actually makes her tear up to think about when she’s doing her makeup
Her eyelash bundles are personally sent to her by the pop star mogul "Sapphire Shores" (LaToya True) because LaToya sponsors two of Regina's boutiques and they're actually really close
She's sent her favorites as well as new releases
Regina has high pain tolerance so she gets her brows threaded instead of waxed monthly because she'd rather that than face her unibrow hairs
"It's not that bad, Rare, it's barely noticeable," Farrah consoles her on her incoming hairs in between her eyebrows all the time, letting her cry her eyeliner off on her couch while she plucks them for her whenever Regina’s brow-ist is out of town
She believes, "What's pain when you're gaining immense beauty?" She says while Dallas (RD) fights the woman trying to wax her legs for the first time
Her weight fluctuates heavily despite consulting a dietitian, but, be as she might, she can never be strict with herself when it comes to sweets because Joetta Alma-Jean Smith (or as they call AJ, "JoJo") and Patty always want her "input" on the treats they make
Although they really just want to make sure she's nourished from something other than rice cakes and Greek yogurt.
Regina has naturally wide hips as well as dips and a pear figure
She’s always thought SHEIN was tacky and clearly for people who cared about convenience more than quality, even before everybody else found out it’s corrupted.
It's not like she liked its clothes to begin with.
All the time she advises her loyal customers to stand against Shein, financially as much as verbally.
Her face naturally has numerous beauty marks but she conceals them 24/7
JoJo and Tanvi (Twi) don't understand why, tho, because they believe Regina's natural look could get her even further into the fashion world as a model
Her face has always been rounder and softer, so gets mistaken for being younger (around Patty's age, 22)
And she hates that, although Dallas has no problem correcting anyone who "thinks she's young" by saying "oh no don't let the fancy makeup fool you, this unc's pushing 30."
But to prove she is grown to others, she does prefer showing cleavage a bit
"A little flirting with some skin reveal won't hurt, Darling!"
Because she's always wanted to look like supermodels, she contours her chin, cheeks, and nose heavily to make her face seem sharper and longer.
All her friends know her staples are her red-polish almond shaped manis and vintage baguette purses or clutches.
What really inspired her to go to cosmetology school was meeting a 14 y/o Farah while she was waiting on her tea in a cafe, a few weeks after Regina just turned 18, still waiting on the fashion school she applied to see whether she was moving forward or being denied as a possible new student from their wait-list.
The first thing she noticed was her gorgeous, long brown hair cut into shaggy layers and unbrushed loose curls, some shielding the side of her face, and Regina felt herself get shot in the chest or something.
"OH- oh my, excuse me, Darling?"
Farrah looked around to see who she was talking to, taking a wired headphone out her ear, only to realize it was her. She just stared at Regina, frozen.
"Ahem.. I- I, uh, just wanted to say the length and color of your hair .. is fabulous! But.. may I ask who actually is your hairdresser?"
"Not that I don't appreciate their choosing to express creativity and artistic edginess in their attempt to do your hair!"
"It's just.. I, not to sound absolutely vainglorious but I have an eye for beauty, Darling. And your hair would be OH so radiant if.. you'dletmedoit???" Regina asked excitedly, undeterred by the confused, timid stare from the taller.
"Um.. my.. m-my bestfriendkindalikestodoittho.."
Regina tilted her head, wide smile straightening a bit. "Oh. I understand.. well, in case you ever want to try with me! Here's my- do you have a pen, Love?"
Hesitantly, Farrah pulled one out of her cardigan pocket, handing it to Regina. With a charming smile, Regina took it and grabbed a napkin and wrote down her literal address and phone number. "Here's where you can reach me, Dear! So sorry to disturb you!" She smiled cheerfully. "My name's Regina, what's yours, Darling?"
".. it's F- Farrah.." the other replied quietly. Despite Regina's sweet farewell, and Farrah feeling somewhat safe, she was so overwhelmed all at the same time she practically felt dizzy.
It was one time. One time that, on her own, Farrah actually booked herself to get her hair done by Regina once Dallas told her she should.
And when she did? She came out of their with light pink hair and mint green ombre tips, with two long strands of curly hair cascading down the sides of her face while the rest was freshly washed, teased, and detangled into a natural half up and half down style with some of her hair braided into a crown that stopped right where her damp curls were twisted up in the hands of a claw clip, the rest of her lengthy hair dancing down her back.
Ever since, Regina always did Farrah's hair since her cosmetology school was apart of a community college located right by Regina's house.
But even tho Farrah offered payment every time, Regina always refused it stubbornly.
They never talked about anything outrageous due to their blaring four year age difference, but they did become great friends either way.
Regina would ask Farrah how high school was going everytime she came over and Farrah would ask the same about her navigating a local college.
Pretty soon, Farrah felt like another little sister to Regina, with the shy one even meeting her actual little sister, Serenity (although everyone called her Sweetie or Reni).
Once Farrah graduated from high school, with Regina being 22 now, Farrah did actually get to know more about Regina and herself by going to her for advice and questions that Dallas really couldn't answer.
Fluttershy (Farrah Anderson):
Farrah and Dallas are the second youngest of their friend group, both currently being 23.
Farrah never was interested in college and the hassle of it, so post-hs, she got a chance to work full time at a florist shop a little while away from her house while volunteering at her local animal shelter every weekend.
Soon enough she started doing her own research, studying up on botany and animal biology books from a library she found, where she unintentionally saw Tanvi for the first time, (but the m5 wouldn't meet her until later)
She's known Dallas since fifth grade, and first was scared of her because she seemed so intimidating and mean with the guys she'd hang around
But when Farrah was ruthlessly bullied and ostracized by the other kids, Dallas would always gravitate towards her, starting conversations and asking if she wanted to play a sports game with her during recess or gym
When she was in eighth grade, Farrah was officially diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder and general anxiety after an incident where she had an anxiety attack and Dallas found her in the bathroom breaking down
She didn't tell her parents about it for a long time because she thought something was wrong with her, so it was Dallas who pushed her to eventually speak up for her sake
Farrah is now a paid intern at the animal shelter she always volunteered at
Not only do animals regulate her nervous system better than any medication but Farrah has a pyschiatric service poodle that accompanies her everywhere she goes besides work or when she's out with her friends
Farrah started her locs when she was 20 because personal hair care was getting tedious for her to think about every 2 or 3 months or even less
So when she started them with a loctician, Regina immediately learned how to start doing locs once she found out and was right back to doing Farrah's hair
"I can't believe you wouldn't come to me to start your gorgeously thick locs, Darling!" She humphed, making Farrah smile.
"You didn't know how to do them, Rare.."
"Well- but- oh, pish posh! I'm a fast learner."
Farrah was born with vitiligo and is the first in her immediate family to inherit it
Out of the m6, Farrah is the tallest, standing at 6'1, and she used to hate it
For a long time people thought her height equated her "destiny" to being in the WNBA, a pro-volleyball player, or a cute, demure model, all of which she knew was never for her
One thing Regina put her onto that she never thought she'd care for was scent layering
She doesn't overdo it, unlike Regina, but her favorite scent layerings include plain vanilla combos or woodsy, musk ones with a hint of faint scents like jasmine or amber
She always keeps her hair dyed light pink for the most part, with either Patty or Regina helping her when she doesn't wanna do it by herself
But she doesn't care when her brunette roots show
She has naturally long eyelashes and doesn't do any makeup really, which is something that Regina envies on the daily
But always keeps the name-brand Chapstick or Vaseline chapstick on her!
She's introverted as ever, like Tanvi, so when the others are hanging out somewhere, sometimes they just call each other and talk for awhile
Farrah actually has worn glasses since she was in 10th grade, but Regina taught her how to use contacts in case she ever wanted to swap out.
Farrah takes medicated marijuana but her SAD but she doesn't shy away from nights when Patty calls her over and they do hookah rounds with Dallas while watching Living Single or Family Matters
That is, until, Dallas rambles once she's deep in her high that One On One and Kenan & Kel are the toughest Black sitcoms to grace the universe of cable tv, so they watch those too
She tried to get into vaping once Dallas was hyping it up sm to her, but she hated it actually.
She loves listening to Macy Gray and Sade (and even Erykah Badu sometimes)!
She usually walks around barefoot in and outside her house
But when she's out with Regina, Regina is quick to bring a change of superfoam Juicy Couture sandals for her so that older doesn't even get the thought of bunions around her friend.
To Regina's displeasure, Farrah prefers Frog Toggs.
Farrah is BIG into whimsigoth
At first, she was scared to embrace whimsigoth culture despite her affinity until Rare complimented how dark green looks on her
She hates fast fashion, as a fellow sewer, as well.
None of her friends really know Farrah can sew besides Regina and Dallas.
She also can knit and crochet!
When JoJo met her, she thought Farrah was actually mute, due to Farrah shutting down around the outspoken country girl, no matter how much Regina told her otherwise.
"She's not talkin', Gin."
"This girl can talk, Alma! I'm serious!"
She carries a green iPod nano everywhere she goes, with headphones strapped for any occasion
Pinkie (Patricia "Patty Cake" Baker):
Out of the friend group, Patty is the youngest (22) and she's also the shortest (4'11)!
Her foster parents, the Cookes, have always called her Patty Cake because when they took her in as their own, she always asked them if they wanted to play Patty Cake and she'd sing it whenever she baked with them.
Patty loves makeup art, so every other birthday or Christmas, Rare gifts her makeup and nail kits targeted for toddlers (not to be insulting, but because Patty genuinely loves them)
She has a gang of sticker collections for every occasion
She literally loves emoticons like those are her actual emojis
Well besides for her overuse of: 🥳🎉
She's so bubbly like people gen can't handle her like her friends and loved ones can
She's prediabetic, and has been for quite awhile, so Tanvi (an RN, although she's back in school, majoring in biochem) checks her vitals no-no that while JoJo comes up with healthy apple desserts alternatives for Patty to try every now and then
But she has such a problem with sweets and slushies it's not funny
Her friends call her Pinkie cuz she everything she owns is majorly pink, and her hair is also dyed pink!
To be honest, nobody has ever really seen her natural hair color besides the Cookes, tho, because when shes not wearing her hair out, she wears a hat or a bonnet
Oh she LOVES to rave with Dallas
They tried to get Tanvi to go out with them once, hyped up on Monsters and Mountain Dew spiked with Buzz Balls, and Tanvi was in a state of shock for borderline three days.
Her and Regina always do Farrah's cosplay makeup, and they all have a ball fr
As soon as Farrah mentions in the slightest a fictional or gaming character she'd love to be for the next comic con, Patty has Regina on the phone
Over her time growing closer to her best friends, she's built up individualized fidget toys for all of them with at least two toys in each bin, although it's always so much more
"Everybody stims, silly!" Is her motto.
Sometimes she helps ground Farrah through an anxious episode, Pinkie grounds Farrah by getting her to doodle on P's hands with markers and glitter pens
Party throwing is Pinkie's side hustle, because she does it for everybody cuz she's such a people person, but she works at Mrs. Cooke's local daycare on the weekdays!
She would love to go to school for Early Education but Patty never was the biggest fan of school besides the social aspect, and she found school to be too confusing with not enough people actually helping her
So she dropped out in her junior year to help Mrs. And Mr. Cooke with their bakery full time as well as the daycare.
They wanted her to continue and finish out high school but they didn't wanna force her to go back either
So for the rest of her junior year, they actually (struggled but still) homeschooled her and she agreed to go back for her senior year
Everytime her polish chips, she picks at it incessantly
You'll always find Patty wearing decorative grills, tooth gems, and face stickers
Bandaids too cuz she's clumsy asl
Pinky always is wearing an unique, protective or au natural styles in her hair because she's never been into doing anything further
Plus Pinkie's hair is insanely thick and coily, sometimes Regina fights to even make sure that girl detangles and moisturizes her hair
That's cuz Patty's so tenderheaded fr
She stayed watching Cartoon Network when it was in its prime
She loves wearing silly graphic shirts with cartoon characters or slogans on it but she also loves patterns galore
Her style is part decora part kidcore!
