Mug shape 3, 4 and 5 handled, and on the drying shelf.
1st mug handled. The second one already I'm grumpy at myself, first it has 6 feet. I fixed that with the handles but. Every now and then, when I make a handle-foot cup, they never get used. Because they are annoying to handle with beverages in them.
5 mug shapes and 9 thrown handles.
First day back in the clay in just under 11 months.
My pottery notes say June 23rd 2025.
Today is May 10th, 2026.
The state of my clay area, when ignored the spiders rule. Those specs on the lid wheel cover are not dirt they are pine beetle corpses.

Cleaned up the foot of the big salad bowl. No emotional drama today. So that's good. Still don't feel like making new clay things. Maybe later?
zZzzzz ... much later May 10th 2026, looking at the date carved in this bowl still sitting my shelf it reads June 025. So 11 months, not throwing any pottery at all that felt like years.
Soooo....? I'm so angry and sad right now. I don't want a bunch of shitty angry pottery "forever" using up the world's energy and materials and filling up the space in my small house. Or I have to smash and burry in my tiny yard. So, I thought, just go out and make bowls. But, I don't know how I'm going to glaze them and if I don't know and just wing it they turn out like shit. Then back to the smashing and burry thing, or using in the studio that already is full of more than enough duds. I hate this. Add to that, our studio is a drafty leaky shack, if I don't get them bisque fired before it rains in the fall, then they explode because they can't dry. I need a real studio or don't waste my time and again the world's energy and materials doing this. Yeah, not what I'm supposed to type. Happy pottery bull shit. I can't fuck up not only another bowl but another large bowl. A large piece of shit is worse than a few tiny ugly pots. At least the tiny pots have the cute factor even if they are grey and brown with bubbles lumps from not wedging the clay out of the bag. My inner potter is like, do this correctly and well or don't do it at all and that's why I haven't been out in a while. And I don't feel better... sigh. Now what?!
Tho I do celebrate not needing to clean, still spent most of the day moving stuff stacked all higglie, finding tools, and yes cleaning some things, like sponge and ribs. Oh yeah, one whirl bowl and one perfectly imperfect bowl. That's okay, it's a start, just gotta throw enough to fill the kiln. At least BFF was out there with me and will fill up some shelf space too.
First bowl back, a whirl bowl. P.s. clay looks yellow, even says yellow on the bag, fires brick red.
haven't worked in the clay since October 2023?! :-/ am enjoying the privilege of not having to clean my wheel.

Okay, just a few more and I will have enough thermal mass to fire the bisque kiln.
Signatures drying on 4 out of 12 of yesterdays clay. Gotta let the scribbles dry to brush off the clay boogers, a high tech potter's term (clay boogers).
Plus note my ultra high tech method of seeing if the work on the drying shelf will fit on the shelf. Cardboard kiln shelf divider and kiln post.
A good day in the clay, 9 bowls, 1 big, 3 small and 5 tiny , all happily twisted. Plus the three little plates in the last post.
Three small finger food plates/dishes.
Same bowl, day two. October 7th, 2023

Centered this lump of clay to make something else, and it wanted to be a bowl, ... this bowl. So here's day 1, October 6th.
bowl 10-023 it doesn't have name yet.
Funny how I notice details in photos on the drying shelf and not when I'm holding the actual clay object in my hand. Mostly texture of fingerprints and brushstrokes, or how my handwriting is. When writing or painting, I guess I'm not thinking about it.
