Note: Most of these links are from Soompi, Koreaboo, Reddit and similar sites so do with that what you will. I cannot use Naver/Dispatch/etc because I do not speak Korean so this is the best I can offer. This list of links is for fans who have not kept up with the Seungri/Burning Sun scandal from the beginning and need some help catching up. I have provided basic summaries but please do your own reading and form your own informed opinions.

1/28/19 – MBC’s News Desk released CCTV footage of a man (Mr. Kim) being beaten by security guards at Burning Sun. The man claimed that he was trying to protect a woman who had approached him for help, saying she’d been sexually assaulted. When he tried to go to security about it, he was thrown out of the club and beaten by security guards and people who “seemed like” their friends. When the police arrived and spoke to Burning Sun’s security, the man was arrested for “obstruction of business.” (This happened in 2018.)

1/30/19 – A video of a woman being sexually assaulted inside a club bathroom began making its way around the internet. An employee at the club confirmed that it was, in fact, the bathroom attached to a VIP room at Burning Sun.

1/31/19 – YG himself made a statement about Burning Sun and spoke about how Seungri was in the process of resigning (from Burning Sun) due to a military clause. He said that he’d never been to Burning Sun and that he didn’t know any of the employees or patrons, then said that he felt the investigation was more geared towards a drug search.

2/4/19 – The CEO of Burning Sun made a statement addressing the physical assault of Mr. Kim. At no point did the CEO mention the viral video of the sexual assault, and most of the statement was used to try and dissolve Seungri of any blame or possible connection to the club.

2/16/19 – At his first show of his new tour, Seungri spoke publicly about the controversy and apologized to fans for worrying them and acting irresponsibly. 

2/25/19 – SBS’s FunE revealed incriminating KakaoTalk text messages from 2015 that appeared to show Seungri instructing employees to secure prostitutes for wealthy businessmen looking to invest in one of his businesses. He says to get girls who “give well” and the participants also discuss “Taiwanese gangsters.” YG insisted that the text message screenshots were manipulated.

2/26/19 – In a statement made through YG, Seungri expressed his wishes to cooperate fully with the police regarding all of the allegations and be drug tested

2/27/19 – Seungri essentially “turned himself in” and spent eight-and-a-half hours at the police station, answering questions and submitting samples for drug testing. He asked fans to wait patiently for results. That same day, the first round of drug-testing came back negative, with Seungri coming up clean.

2/28/19 – YG cancelled all of Seungri’s upcoming shows and appearances.

3/3/19 – YG refutes claims that they shredded incriminating documents relating to Seungri and Burning Sun.

¾/19 – Though a source from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency had originally said that they did not have original copies of any KKT messages, and that they weren’t sure such messages truly existed, SBS FunE confirmed that the original copies were sent directly to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. In short, the whistleblower responsible for leaking the KKT group messages did not feel comfortable going to the Seoul police, as they had reason to believe that there was a deep police connection WITHIN the KKT group chat itself. 

3/8/19 – Following a statement from YG confirming Seungri’s enlistment date on 3/25/19, the Military Manpower Administration clarified that, unless an arrest warrant was issued and Seungri was jailed before the 25th, he would still be enlisting. They went on to say that they would participate fully in the investigation and that they could delay his enlistment if he is found guilty of any charges before the 25th.

3/10/19 – Police issued a search warrant for Burning Sun and sent 20 officers to search the premises. Not long after, Seungri was booked on charges related to facilitating prostitution, officially marking him a suspect in the controversies at Burning Sun.

3/11/19 (the busiest day so far – several updates all within a few hours of each other)

Police begin questioning the other (still unnamed) celebrities in Seungri’s alleged KKT group chat.

Later that day, in a horrifying twist, more KKT screenshots were leaked. In those chats, Seungri and a handful of others share and laugh about spy-cam footage of VIP rooms. In pictures and videos, women (who do not know they’re being filmed) perform sexual acts on men, at least one of whom is in the group chat.

Singer Jung Joon Young was revealed to be the man sharing the videos. 

Translations of the texts seem to show Joon Young bragging about filming women (without consent) and sending them to the group chat. He even appears to be taking “requests” regarding videos. 

In light of the new evidence, particularly the spy-cam footage, police made a statement to update the public on the status and severity of the investigation and to reiterate that they did not intend to slow down or stop the investigation once Seungri enlisted. 

It was reported that the KKT chat about spy-cams was recovered throgh the phone of an unnamed celebrity. Allegedly, the celebrity sent his phone to be repaired and the KKT were subsequently leaked by a whistleblower.

Seungri shared a post on Instagram, announcing his retirement from the entertainment industry, saying that he was causing “societal disturbances” and that he wanted to protect YG and Bigbang.

Police and the Ministry of Justice officially banned Seungri from leaving Korea due to the severity of the investigation and his involvement in it.

YG released a statement basically saying that Seungri’s decision to “retire” was made without their knowledge, involvement or input, nor has there been an official decision about his exclusive contract with them.

Daniel Kang’s laywer appeared on MBC to state that Daniel has no connection to Seungri, Bigbang or Burning Sun despite previous claims that Daniel and Burning Sun shared an investor, and that Daniel had visited the club.

Background:

Back in 2015, one of our admins helped organize a “travel buddy” system to help some Tumblr/Twitter VIP meet up with fellow VIP attending the same MADE Tour dates in North America. This consisted of pairing up people within the same age range in groups of 2-4 so they could meet up before/after the concert, hang out together while waiting in line at the venue, share a hotel/airbnb, or even share a car ride down to the event location.

With G-Dragon venturing on a solo world tour this year, we’ve seen many VIP express excitement at the thought of going to one or more of his tour dates - as well as anxiety at trying to find someone to hang out with at said tour date(s) because they’d be going alone.

Because of the previous “travel buddy” system our admin worked on for MADE Tour, people have asked for help finding “travel buddies” for the upcoming North American G-Dragon tour dates as well. Since there are more North American tour dates this time around, we decided to open up the project on the VIP International platform.

Details:

This project is for anyone who is planning on attending any of G-Dragon’s North American tour dates who needs someone to:

Hang out with before/after the concert

Hang out with while at the venue

Share a hotel/airbnb with

Share a car ride with (whether you’re driving or need a ride)

Based on your request, the VIP International admins will group you into groups of 2-4 people, within the age range you specify, for any of the tour dates on the list. We will only be providing you with each other’s contact information; you are responsible for communicating with each other and coordinating your meet up on your own.

How it works:

Simply fill out the “Travel Buddy Request Form” linked at the bottom of this post with all of the required information. Once we have a response meeting your specifications, we will contact you with your assigned buddy’s name and contact information. After that, you are free to communicate with the other person at your convenience to organize your meet up and/or travel plans.

We will only be pairing you up with a “travel buddy” based on the information you provide on the request form, so please be sure you fill the form out entirely and correctly. We will not be organizing any meet ups or travel plans for you, so please make sure to provide correct contact information so your assigned “travel buddy” will be able to contact you accordingly.

While we are currently only opening up this project for the North American G-Dragon tour dates, we would be more than willing to help out fans attending the GD solo tour in any country, if the demand is there. (Simply fill out the form linked at the bottom of this post, select “other” as your tour date, and include the location you are requesting a “travel buddy” for.)

I’ve had some people message me saying they’re thinking about going to the GD shows here in the U.S. but they don’t have anyone to go with. So I was thinking about doing another “Tour Buddy” project like I did for Made Tour.

See, I can’t really take you seriously if you’re presenting all these claims when you’re faceless. If you’re really as brave as you seem, you need to go off anon. You’re just showing me what kind of character you have. But anyway, let me just break down a few things for you:

Oh wow, okay. That ugly trend you’re talking about are VIPs asking for clarification. I think I’ve already explained in my post why it’s valid. Read again.

“1. Could have ruin BTS and bighit carrer.”

First of all, Big Hit doesn’t have a career. Big Hit IS a company that houses PEOPLE with careers. Second, BTS’ career won’t be ruined just because some VIPs are asking for clarification. Third, a group’s success relies on: a.) a supportive company b.) fan loyalty c.) quality songs d.) public appeal e.) talented artists and f.) fans that are not bringing a bad name to the group. Lastly, you being worried about a hashtag ruining your faves’ career reflects your insecurity AND also on how little you trust in your faves. Think about that. BTS is actually a good group, but if you’re downplaying all their hard work and abilities while thinking that they could easily be “ruined” - then you need to re-evaluate yourself. Are you really a fan or are you just someone who’s following whoever’s popular? You better know the difference.

“2. Look up what the no signal concept means.”

No, how about YOU look up what copyright means? (also read about their current copyright law: The Republic of Korea’s Copyright Act of 1957)

I actually said that in my post? READ AGAIN. I’m actually surprised that you’re not channeling your bitterness towards Gaon and Big Hit. Gaon shouldn’t have done that to TOP, VIPs AND BTS. BTS is always getting involved in plagiarism controversies and Big Hit should be providing proper clarifications every time - not just passing the blame to someone else. Your faves are working so hard for the company and earning so much, they deserve better treatment than what their company is doing when it comes to handling these situations. I mean, why would you want your artists to be associated as copycats??? That’s just…weird.

Have you actually read what Gaon said? You do realize that Gaon apologized for something, right? Gaon didn’t even deny that the stage was plagiarized, which means they’re well damn aware that it is. They acknowledged that fact, which means VIPs, BIGBANG’s lawyer, YG staff members are correct and have a valid claim.

“You vips”  1.) You need to learn how not to generalize fandoms. For example, I know how to distinguish good and respectful ARMYs from people like you. 2.) You need to learn the difference between asking for clarifications and playing the victim. A perfect example of playing the victim would be this overly defensive ask that you sent me. Here’s advice from someone who has been a fan of idols for a decade now: It’s not everything about how you feel as a fan. You also have to look at things from a business perspective, from the artists’ perspective and from the company’s perspective.

Basically me throughout reading your ask:

Silly anon. I teach reading comprehension to my staff five days a week, don’t make me do work outside of my office on a weekend lol.

Instead of spewing bitterness and hate in my blog, I suggest you do something productive. Take care of yourself, do your homework, learn more about manners, do your chores, be kind to others, and practice reading comprehension and critical thinking coz you need it badly.

Yes, TOP’s stage is copyrighted. And yes kids, you can actually copyright a concept/stage plan.

Regardless of how short it was, if it’s exactly as the original AND copyrighted stage - then yes, it IS plagiarism.

The reason why VIPs are upset is not just because of the copyright, but it’s also because that stage/concept/performance is something very personal to TOP - all the more that he just got enlisted a few weeks ago makes it unprofessional and disrespectful.

No, K-VIPs are not starting shit. K-VIPs have always been known for being a chill fandom in S.Korea for more than a decade now. Majority of these K-VIPs are past their teenage years, have jobs and maybe their own families. They don’t have time for petty fanwars. When a lenient fandom speaks up, then yes, it IS a concern.

BIGBANG have always been hands-on with their stages and concerts - literally down to every detail. They’ve even funded their concerts with their own money. Everyone in YG who has worked with them know how meticulous they are. If BIGBANG are perfectionists, then so are the people who are working with them. 

The fact that the YG staff members, BIGBANG’s lawyer, music director, live performance producers - and even their own family members recognize TOP’s stage when he’s not the one performing is bothersome enough.

No, BTS does not deserve to be hated. We don’t even know their restrictions in providing an apology or how much creative freedom they have in their company when it comes to their performances.

Since GAON took responsibility, I hope they are more careful next time. Personally, I do wish that Big Hit Entertainment would also be more thorough when it comes to these matters. It’s not helping the group’s image if they’re associated with plagiarism controversies so many times. BTS deserves success too.
