okay, so Rachel exhibits several signs of comphet from the very beginning, very similarly to both Santana and Quinn. Rachel consciously chooses boys to date because she knows it's expected for her to do so. she also chooses them based off of what they can provide for her at any given moment. for instance, Rachel only develops an interest in Finn after she discovers that he can match her vocally (how vocally compatible they are is debatable lmao, but that's neither here nor there.) you can literally see the moment where she chooses him as her desired love interest.

likewise, Santana chose to pick Finn to be interested in after she realized that Sue wanted her to have a boyfriend. and with Quinn, her interest in Finn most likely spouted from her wanting to claw her way to the top. and even if that's not how their relationship initially came about, it's pretty obvious that her interest in Finn skyrocketed after he was promoted to Quarterback again in season two. the major difference here is that Rachel is actually consistent in her interest, but also, Rachel is just generally more consistent in her wants and her needs than Santana and Quinn.

another interesting thing about her crush on Finn is that it's heavily implied that she didn't even know who he was before they were in Glee Club together (they get rid of this idea in season three, but I'm choosing to ignore it, because that's not at all how it was framed in season one.) she didn't know him, but she was more than aware of Quinn. which I understand, as Quinn had been directly targeting her for at least a year, but Finn is Quinn's boyfriend. he seems like a person that Rachel should've been aware of before this.
