The Recognition of What Is
There is no duality. There is no separate âself.â Everything that appears, everything that is felt, everything that is thought arises within a single reality: awareness.
Awareness is not thoughts, not the body, not identity. All of these are things that are perceived. Anything that is perceived cannot be what awareness itself is. Thoughts come and go, emotions change, the body transforms, identities are formed and dissolved; yet that which is aware of all of this does not change. That is what is real.
A person usually defines themselves through the mind, the body, and their story. âI am this, I am that, I am this age, I have this past.â But all of these are acquired definitions. Before all of them, there was a presence. That presence is still here. It is awareness itself, needing no definition.
The mind tries to understand this and immediately creates concepts: soul, evolution, purpose, journey, awakening⌠None of these are necessarily wrong, but none of them are absolute either. They are attempts to explain. Since the mind cannot grasp what is directly, it creates stories. Narratives like âfrom oneness to multiplicity and back to onenessâ are not the truth itself, but efforts to approach it.
In reality, nothing is going anywhere. There is no process. Nothing becomes anything. What already is, is simply recognized.
Awareness is always present. It cannot be created, developed, or reached, because it already is. Even in the attempt to understand something, it is there. The thought âI donât understandâ also arises within it. Awareness never disappears; attention simply shifts.
For this reason, the idea of a âstate to reachâ is also an illusion. Sometimes it is given different names like void state , the âI amâ state, or others. But regardless of the name, what is being pointed to is the same: awareness that is already present. You do not enter it, and you do not exit it. You simply recognize that you are it.
The experienced world also appears within this awareness. What is seen, heard, touched, thoughts, memories⌠all arise and fade. What gives them the sense of reality is that they are known by awareness. When attention is given, they become vivid; when attention is withdrawn, they fade. This is why there is no real separation between an âouter worldâ and an âinner world.â
The mind usually clings to the idea of time: past, present, future. Yet experience always happens in the now. The past and future appear as thoughts. Therefore, time itself is a mental construct. Likewise, concepts such as âdistance,â âwaiting,â and âdelayâ are parts of this construction.
When one identifies with the body and mind, a sense of lack appears. One seeks to obtain something, to reach something. But if everything already arises within awareness, there is nothing separate to reach. The seeker and what is sought come from the same source.
At this point, concepts like âcreationâ and âchangeâ take on a different meaning. For something to exist, it is enough for it to be known. Awareness shifts, and experience shifts with it. However, this is not a process; it is a shift in perception. The mind interprets it as something happening over time.
What is called the ego is nothing more than this misidentification. Thoughts, beliefs, and identities come together to form a sense of âI.â This structure constantly asks questions: âHow?â, âWhy?â, âWhat if it doesnât happen?â These questions are not truly seeking truth; they are trying to sustain themselves. Awareness, on the other hand, needs nothing. It simply is.
The feeling of loneliness also arises from this misinterpretation. Oneness is not being alone in the way the mind imagines. On the contrary, it is being everything. There are no âothersâ separate from you, so loneliness cannot truly exist. It is not born from reality, but from the idea of separation.
In the same way, fears are projections of the mind. Ideas such as death, ending, and disappearance arise from identification with the body. The body is a changing form; awareness is not. Being does not depend on a beginning or an end.
At the end of all seeking, what is found is not new knowledge, but a simple recognition: seeing what already is. Therefore, the resolution is not to think more, but to recognize what is beyond thought.
In conclusion, nothing is missing, nothing is distant, nothing is gained later. Whatever is being sought is already here. And that which is aware of it is what is being sought.
A Shift from Seeking to Awareness : [About my experiences â you donât have to read this part if you donât want to â¤ď¸] Before, I used non-dualism mostly as a tool for my physical desires. I tried to apply this understanding to get what I wanted, change my life, and reach certain outcomes. However, the most important thing I realized during this process was that none of the things I achieved or tried to achieve brought lasting satisfaction. There was always a new desire appearing, which created an endless cycle of seeking. Over time, I started to notice that the real issue wasnât âreaching something,â but the desire to reach itself. I saw that the part of me constantly seeking, questioning, and trying to feel fulfilled was a mental construct. With this realization, I understood that even trying to use non-dualism as a tool was actually just a continuation of seeking. At this point, there was a shift for me: letting go of seeking. This didnât mean giving up everything or not wanting anything anymore. It was more about stopping the constant feeling that something is missing. And interestingly, when I let that go, awareness started to become clearer. Now it feels like the point is not to âbecome somethingâ or âget something,â but to recognize what is already there. Awareness was always present, but I was overlooking it because I turned it into a goal. From my own experience, I can say that real change begins when seeking itself is questioned. As long as seeking continues, there is always an expectation in the future. But when that expectation is dropped, it becomes possible to notice what is already here. So for me, the simplest and clearest way to express this is: Stop seeking and be aware.
