now i am going to ramble about her / give some lil details about her and her personality that might not be in the app (or might be! who knows! idk where this is going!)

but i should start at the beginning

her dad’s a dick but he’s rich and pureblooded so go off ig

he was a quidditch player and he’s unforgiving —- these are probably the most distinct traits mia inherits from him, though they manifest differently. her father was a chaser and captain, whereas she is a beater, because she is protective and aggressive, strong and wild and fierce and willing to use that to protect the people she cares about. as for the unforgiving nature, well. mia tries, sometimes, and certainly more than her father does, but it is hard for her to look past things. the exception is with friends: she will stay loyal to her friends, but she will call them out on their bullshit, which doesn’t always lead to a fun journey, but she doesn’t hold back on either loyalty or hard truths

she’s also a werewolf (pretty important)

sibling/child death tw // she’s been a werewolf for the vast majority of her life, and when she was younger, in those circles of the children of the old pureblood crew, there were rumours about the incident that killed her brother and shook the urquharts, that there was an attack —- everyone knew that thomas urquhart did not forgive the werewolves for taking away his son, and everyone could guess that he isn’t thrilled about which child is left, but eventually the rumours in those circles started murmuring about whether there was a more lasting scar than merely the loss of a son. her parents tried to keep it Hushed, of course, but once a rumour starts, especially with truth inside it, well — they may be hard to prove, but they’re even more difficult to stop // end tw

mia hated it —- hated the way the eyes of certain adults fell on her, hated the weight of the whispers, the way some children held themselves more carefully around her because of things their parents murmured about at the dinner table in those undertones

it wasn’t everyone, of course, not at all. in fact, she still has some friends from those days ( !!! wanted connection!! ), but it was enough to, alongside the cold weight of the air in her family home, make her loathe people looking at anyone like that

hogwarts tastes like freedom

she doesn’t tell people, exactly, about what she is, but she doesn’t hide it either —- she’s more careful at the very beginning, but eventually, well. she doesn’t like the idea of people knowing because she doesn’t like the idea of people knowing her private life, but she also does not want to act like she is ashamed of who she is. there are some of her peers who have heard the rumours for years, and well —- if you don’t hide it, if you don’t flinch from the rumours, don’t try to disguise what days you’re busy, well. someone can figure it out, eventually

it’s the sort of thing everyone knows, even if nobody is sure how they know, and some aren’t sure they believe it —- but some probably know straight from her, or talked to her about it, so hmu if you’re interested in that

she can be pretty prickly tbh but she has. a bit of a knack for seeing something of her core in others, which can sometimes help when they’re both prickly + has very specific academic interests but goes hard in that

mia urquhart is four years old and watching the fawley cousins play —- well, watching the fawley boys run faster and faster, darting out of the young girl’s reach, and turning back, taunting. mia does not play much, not now that thomas is gone, not after what happened that night in their chambers, with the bite and the pain and the disappointment in her father’s eyes, and the grave she is more familiar with than any child ought to be. but seeing the way they tease —- well. mia steps forward and boldly offers her hand to fawley*, and says, “let’s find something else to do.” it means the world when fawley* takes her hand and smiles. right then and there, mia decides she’ll have her back forever, through thick and thin.

greengrass* is a show-off, and a lot, and mia doesn’t like her very much. nott*, though, is clever and funny and isn’t afraid of her, even though the rumours swirl in their world about the accident, even if none of them know the real truth. he tackles her, even, runs with her, and treats her like she’s just a person, not a burden, and he earns her loyalty too.

hogwarts brings roxanne weasley through the shared dorm, and so do the next six years. girls and wolves and fierce things, thinking things through, something ambitious and brave in their bones. nott* is there too, and ravenclaw puts fawley* in a different common room, but no further from mia’s heart. with fawley* comes fletcher*, who is quiet and honest and is always polite, but takes his time to trust. mia respects that. she understands that. she is the same.

the jordans* come in steps. fawley*’s dormmate comes first, her brother second. spinnet* is next, alongside the hufflepuff brother, because best friends run in packs, and in third year, when they’re all taking their electives, boundaries are renegotiated. jordan* and fletcher* partner up in herbology —- and his sister partners with nott* in potions, because when her pragmatism and ambition meets his natural talent and aptitude for group work, success is the only answer.

it’s third year when creevey* sits beside mia in magical linguistics, and there’s a lot of snark and banter before it falls into an easy friendship. he’s the one who encourages her to go out for beater —- nott* quickly takes up the chant as well, eventually trying out with her —- and he’s more charming than what’s probably good for him. ( no wonder he and nott* end up getting along so well. ) it’s creevey* who finally brings greengrass* in, and she and mia still take their time to warm to each other, but —- greengrass* is arrogant, impatient and unafraid to be rude, but she’s also wickedly funny, committed to her craft, and doesn’t let anyone talk down to her or her friends. she’s desperately lonely, even if she doesn’t let on, and that speaks to something in most of them. they take her under their wing, and even though she still spends half her time saying imperious things or being vaguely outraged at the implication that anyone else is better than her at something, she is bold and brave and loyal to her core.

roxanne and nott* go out for the wizengamot internship —- the jordans* , creevey* and fawley* for other ministry ones ( mia briefly teases fawley* that she only goes out for an internship because of the pretty slytherin girls also involved in internships, like roxanne and iris parkinson, but she really does believe fawley* will do incredibly well there. she’s heard that audrey weasley drops by sometimes, to liaise with the officials interested in magical art education on behalf of her mixed muggle-magical art gallery, abarcar, and she hopes she does. if anyone knows about the options for art college, muggle or magical, it’ll be audrey ) —- spinnet* and fletcher* for st mungo’s apprenticeships —- and mia and greengrass* focus on other things for the summer, like music and life beyond the walls of her home, for mia, and her dance and her future, for greengrass*.

it’s a mix-match of things, this group of sixth years, and the inter-relationships between them all are fascinating and shifting, but mia knows she would go to bat for any one of them.
