but you’re balling your eyes out, so he lets you in, makes you tea, and talks you through deep breathing before you finally explain the situation. he sighs when you tell him that an older man broke your heart because of course your dad doesn’t know that— he’d be pissed to know you’re fucking a man his age. and now being the annoyingly moral man he is, he promises you, a crying vulnerable girl, that he won’t tell your father. but he will. because your wellbeing is more important than your naive fear of your father’s wrath— which he knows will ultimately aid you in the future.

he’ll let you sleep over because it’s late and unsafe to drive in this weather. he’ll make sure you’re settled in his guest bedroom comfortably and he’ll even lock his bedroom door before he goes to sleep because you were so distraught and who knows what kind of comfort you could be looking for in your state.

he’s always been there and you’re just helplessly, hopelessly in love with him but he would never cross that line even if there’s a slim SLIM chance he’s ever even thought about you that way. he’s better than that, he thinks you deserve better than that. being your fathers best friend means taking the responsibility of being a good example of a real man in your life.
