4 years ago on this day we were in our one bedroom apartment. You were sitting on our hand-me-down couch, in just your undies, watching most likely Family Guy on our TV that was sitting on our end table, as I was getting ready for our date at The Mash House. It was our 4th anniversary (dating not married), but our first anniversary as a married couple. We would be celebrating our first marriage anniversary in a couple of months after this. I remember wanting to get a couple of cute photos so I put my phone up on the window sill and hit “record,” in hopes that I could capture a few cute moments. Hence the pictures in this post. They are so far from perfect. Our dog MyLee’s butt is in these pictures and they are terrible quality but they are real. I remember this moment perfectly. You couldn’t keep your hands off of me, I was telling you to get dressed, I was anxiously awaiting our first really nice date at our favorite restaurant (although, we didn’t know it at the time). It’s funny, you think about where you’re at now and look back at life back then. Everything was so new to us. We were working on furnishing a tiny one bedroom apartment, and now we have fully furnished a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house. Kids were no where in our vision at that time, yet here I am rocking our 6 ½ week daughter to sleep in her nursery. Life with you is my favorite. We have so many memories and so many trials we faced. I swear we have overcome the impossible. There are so many times in that year that I didn’t know how we were going to make it, yet here we are. Sometimes I miss our flirty, frisky, crazy selves like the people we were back then. Sometimes I feel like we will never be those people again. Maybe what they say about the first year of marriage being the “honeymoon phase” is true, but I think that sucks. I wish we could bring it back. But then I look at us now, and no words even have to be spoken, we can give each other that smile and know that it means “I love you, so much.” Things are much more calm these days, in every sense. Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be. Just comfortable, without many questions. While this date isn’t our anniversary, and it is tomorrow, these photos brought up so many memories and thoughts. We’ve moved into 3 houses since then, have had two pregnancies, suffered the loss of one pregnancy, I finished school (for now), you’ve come so far in the man I always knew you were, we’ve moved across the country once again, and best of all, we have a beautiful baby girl. My life would be so quiet and so empty without you. You bring me to life. I love you so much.
