Rest in peace Nichelle Nichols, December 28th 1932- July 31st 2022
âLast night, my mother, Nichelle Nichols, succumbed to natural causes and passed away. Her light however, like the ancient galaxies now being seen for the first time, will remain for us and future generations to enjoy, learn from, and draw inspiration.â - nichellenicholsofficial
Nichelle Nichols has passed away.Â
Martin Luther King once convinced her to continue on as Uhura when she was about to quit. He told her how she was a role model for so many people and had to stay on. He rightfully recognized her as a trailblazer and the inspiration she continued to be.Â
(Second picture is Nichols participating in a recruitment program for NASA in late 70s/early 80â˛s, aimed at women and people of color. The third picture is Nichols onboard the stratospheric observatory for infrafred astronomy in 2017, as one of the first non essential personell to be able to do so)Â

This Little Blunt of Mines (Photographed By Malik Frank)
This mini photo series is about capturing the selected individuals in their natural surroundings, being comfortable with their usage of marijuana. As we slowly progress into a new era where one can hope (like alcohol and cigarettes), it wonât be seen as a symbol of criminality, but of normalcy, for those that partake in it responsibly.
Me right now. And dammit, it sucks.

Dallas police are asking for the publicâs help finding an 11-year-old boy last seen early Thursday in Mountain Creek. Police said Traveon Mi
Slides adapted from CDC guidelines:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/quarantine-isolation-background.html
Why I think it matters to know the actual recommendations, and not just endless social media bullshit:
Businesses are straight up lying to their staff about what CDC guidelines are, itâs already happened to several friends & one of my roommates. In all cases, management backed down only after a staff member said âno, thatâs completely false, hereâs what it actually saysâ
I think that reasonable people can disagree with the CDCâs stated reasoning for the updated guidelines, but I do think that good-faith criticism has to address the actual data & reasoning & circumstances
I donât think Iâm going to change any minds. People already believe what they want. BUT, my concern is that a lot of people - who are otherwise skeptical, smart, inclined to verify - are inundated w/ bullshit and completely exhausted, and therefore arenât double-checking.
anyway I can only include a maximum of 10 slides per post, so Iâm gonna add the rest of the slides in follow-up reblogs (if you want to share, please wait & share the entire post, not just this part)
please reblog from here
That smile at the end? Priceless...

I grew up with circus people. I wish I found this impressive. I really do wish I still found wonder in juggling. My husband juggles too. My mom juggles. Most people I know juggle. It loses its majesty when youâre trying to watch TV and these clowns out of makeup (literally) are tossing ingredients for dinner around like theyâre the dwarves from The Hobbit. Can you pass the salt? No. They can only throw it. You want something, it gets thrown at you. And guess what, it doesnât matter if youâre a decent contortionist and a great dancer, if you donât have hand-eye coordination, sorry, you ruin the whole rhythm of the household. But they donât let you just live. They donât say oh thatâs fine you can walk a tightrope and bend backwards while making a flower with your hands. No. Itâs always âdo your hand like thisâ and âwatch my handâ. Well, guess what Tommy, I have been doing my hand like that since I was three and i still have no chance of getting into clown college. Iâm going to become a researcher mom. iâm leaving the circus to go work in a cubicle. now my mom doesnât speak to me and my husband goes out to do his rollerskate juggling thing without me and thatâs just fine. i like computers, mom. i like talking to people without trying to balance things on my face while i do it. and thereâs nothing wrong with that.
Idk how we got here but I support you 100 fucking percent
U do u boo,
But I love this two juggling dorks up there!!
You donât want to go for a ride, do you? We could get out of the palace. See the world.

#2022 đĽâ¨
Ujamaa
Today is 29 December 2021 and the 4th day of Kwanzaa. I will continue to celebrate Kwanzaa similar to last year by exploring and producing art and intention. Our ancestors frequently used intention to celebrate, pray, and receive guidance because they understood that materials should not control our beings due to it lacking value in the spiritual realm. I will post per diem to summarize the principle of the day and ways to incorporate its energy into our atmosphere until 1 January 2022, the last day of Kwanzaa.
Things to remember:
Ujamaa- Extended family
Ujima- Collective work and responsibility
Kujichagulia- Self-determination
Kinara- Candle holder
Umoja- Unity
7 Nguzo saba- The 7 principles
Mazao- Crops
Bendera- Flag
â
Which candle is lit today?
I decorated my environment with symbols: mazao, kinara, and bendera to represent Kwanzaa. I do not have a physical candle holder nor candles, therefore I drew 7 candles to replace the idea of physical candles because the intention of the drawn candles are just as important as the physical ones. The second red candle located towards the far left of the kinara will be lit today to represent brotherhood and sisterhood. I want to eliminate the false narrative that black people were only known as being slaves because we were actually Kings and Queens. Many of us were rich, traded goods and art with different countries, and influenced the art world. One of the main reasons why our King and Queen representations are kept secret is due to haters and racism. Those individuals were and still are afraid of our power and elegance, so they have tried to separate our people and destroy our race but that has not happened because we are here to stay and flourish!
What does Ujamaa represent?
The previous nguzo saba was Ujima so we could properly focus our energies on mastering the mental, spiritual, and physical realms. If one of these realms are imbalanced then we would not be able to do anything in this world like being able to have our own thoughts, receiving symbols from our higher being(s), and having the ability to move our limbs. Last night, I had a dream that I attended a pep rally where I spoke to everyone who sat around me. The hosts of the event passed out containers filled with delicious food, however I noticed that I received a second plate which was unfair and against the rules. When I tried to give the second plate to the correct individual, the container fell on the floor which led to the juices inside of the container to appear everywhere, but despite this I cleaned the outer container and I gave the plate to the correct person. The meaning of that dream was to do the the right thing, to communicate with those who were around me, to be helpful, and to be aware of my surroundings. Today is the 4th day of Kwanzaa which also makes the meaning of the number 4 extremely important. This number represents our roots, community, and foundations. Ujamaa represents all of our Black and African people inside and outside of the home. This means that with our brothers and sisters we must make sure that we come together, support each other, maintain a healthy environment, be an act of service, heal, grow closer to our culture, and share our wealth with each other. If we do not help each other then a lot of our problems will be overlooked and our art would not be discovered. Remember that the materials in this world will not follow you to the mental nor the spiritual realms because it does not hold any value. Yesterday I separated myself from the community so I could work on self-care and because of that I have enough energy today to spread love and joy into the community.
