After ten years of most people in the world seeing this painting as strongly yellow with a whisper of green intermixed, I’m very happy to be able to bring you this very recent look at it. And it sure is pretty.
Light affects Rothko work in an almost supernatural way at times meaning that it’s always possible no one scan is definitive. But, it is satisfying to see these lush, involving greens appear in our yellow and green painting after all these years. I can attest to this being pretty close as it’s just come from the FLV show in Paris after not being seen publicly in a long time.
