Maybe I was too happy to hear you say them, too happy that the ecstasy sent me to my own delusional promontory.
Maybe you didn't, and curiosity drove you to find out how I would react to hearing that which I longed for but never earned.
Maybe it never happened and that it was just me staring at mirages conjured by my sweet, intoxicated captivation towards your eyes that barely see me.
Maybe I was content with it, that having to see you pass by my life—though fleeting enough—had etched a smile on my face for days to come.
Maybe I was dreaming, how simple memories painted a person of radiant glow traverse the wasteland of moonlit dreams.
Maybe I'll never know the maddening complexity between you and I, or if it had happened or never at all.
