Anon this was certainly a journey from beginning to end 😳 CW for the COCSA and adjacent behavior going on in Maekar’s household
1. Something I’ve been thinking about again ever since an anon (perhaps the same one?) brought up Aerion’s similarities to Visenya is the fact that the conqueror trio’s father was also named Aerion. Viserys (as the closest masculine equivalent to Visenya) would have been too on-the-nose as a name for Maekar’s son given the obvious Viserys III parallels vis-à-vis their personalities and respective relationships with Egg and Dany, so perhaps this was a compromise?
2. I’ve suspected for quite some time now that Nero served as an inspiration for Aerion given the details you mentioned of one of the former’s (alleged) marriages, his association with fire, and general reputation for instability and cruelty. This is, however, the first I’d heard of the frog story…and upon looking into it, I found a paper which claims that it likely originated at least in part from (once again dubiously truthful) accounts that Nero played the stage role of a woman who gives birth to her brother’s child
