Went on a hike with new friends today; Im really, truly feeling like myself again the past couple weeks and its been amazing.
Im gonna be just fine in my new home.
In the past month, I:
- had a long term (10+ years) bestie stand me up, be incredibly mean, and then completely ghost.
- Had to put Wifi, my 14 year old dog, down after his back legs stopped working and he was in so much pain
- Sold my home of the past 10 years
- Watched my daughter graduate 1st grade
- Said a tearful and heartwrenching goodbye to my parents as today I move over 2000 miles away.
I am more emotionally exhausted than Ive been in years, and while 80% of it is pure grief and heartache, the remaining 20% is hope and joy, which have been missing from my life a lot lately.

T minus 18 days till me and the mini-me leave the US for several years and I have never been more ready.
I can't believe we live in a world where there's an AI company unironically called "Palantir," and it isn't a parody. It's a real thing. I remember seeing a picture of an advertisement on here and thinking, "This HAS to be a joke. This is too on-the-nose to be real. They wouldn't honestly name an AI company Palantir, after the Seeing Stones from Lord of the Rings that are supposed to offer knowledge, but famously also might be feeding you misinformation from evil sources because 'we do not know who else may be watching.'" But then here I am listening to the BBC News discussing why the CEO of Palantir just published a Manifesto that sounds like it was written by a supervillain.
When we were children, my sister had private music lessons at her violin teacher’s house. I only visited there once, but I still remember that afternoon. The teacher had an artificial pond in her yard, a large beautiful thing with lily pads and plant life. And in the pond, there were goldfish. I had never seen such enormous goldfish.
I spent several minutes just staring at them (and trying to convince them to bite my fingers.) When my sister’s violin lesson ended, her teacher came out to the yard and explained that these goldfish were the same small creatures that were often unfortunately sold in plastic bags at state fairs. They were only about two inches long apiece, when she bought them and put them in the new, empty pond. In essence, they were like every goldfish I had seen before, but they had been given a much larger, much richer environment in which to flourish. As a result, they had grown into some of the most remarkable, vibrant creatures my twelve-year-old self had ever met with. All because of a pond.
Funny what lessons children remember. My sister doesn’t play the violin anymore, but that was the first time I caught a glimpse of the overwhelming extent to which it matters, the way the world treats us.

Started taking narration contracts again three weeks ago. Scored a book three days in, and today, just shared a best selling author (on a not best selling book, but still has over 1k reviews and a 4.2 rating on Goodreads).
Terminally tired but excited in 2024 ❤️
Update 2026: Ive now recorded that book and so many more, including a series for Podium and a book for a big 3 publisher. Im a series regular for the fastest growing d&d podcast and while Im nowhere near voice acting and narration being my main source of income, what I absolutely CAN say is that it rebuilt confidence, found me new pals, gave me a solid side hustle, and has given me creativity and joy that I havent experienced in years. 10/10.
There's a lot of "well if Harris had done this, would you be mad?" going around. Which, for some of it, yes. I was mad during Biden, I was mad during Obama. But also, there is something to be said for trust. If my neighbor made me a drink, I'd probably say thank you. If an unrepentant rapist made me a drink, I'd probably hesitate.

Trad man got the Tie Seatbelt and the Cue Ball Gear Shift That Doesn't Move
E has asked for a cat since she was 2, when my previous cat Bazil passed away at the ripe age of 18. I made good on a promise to adopt a cat when she was 5, and she chose Tux - or rather, he chose her. Her visit was the first time he came out from the safety of the backroom at the shelter. He was estimated at 2 years old, but our vet put him closer to 12-18 months.
He is smart and very adaptable cat, who seeks.E out every day even when she still is learning 'gentle hands'.
He and Wifi (the dog) adore each other and snuggle daily.
He is an absolute lunatic for bread, which is mildly problematic given I'm a baker, but we're learning to adapt.
As any cat should be, he is equal parts a pain in the ass and an absolutely perfect addition to our itty bitty family, and I'm proud of Es determination to adopt a cat that needed a home.
