zim gets easily jealous, not necessarily even about romance, but because dib is his and nobody else’s, but this rarely comes up as an issue because dib doesn’t have very many relationships outside of zim and his family (and zim understands family relationships)

zim is SUPER protective over dib because dib is much more fragile than he is, and he’s terrified of losing him no matter how much he refuses to admit it. he is consistently impressed with how easily dib gets up and shrugs off injury, but he won’t admit that either.

dib would be a horrible father if they ended up with an actual kid (which i don’t personally think they would), but gir is like his terrible robot son in the way that if someone’s legal guardian was their older sibling and their older sibling got married to this other guy and he moved in

after dib inevitably dies before zim, zim takes to space and fucks off recklessly for a while and always always ALWAYS wears dib’s jacket. he never takes it off unless he absolutely has to, and he always makes sure it stays clean and untouched by others. gir comforts him on long lonely nights

zim acts like he owns dib, but he’s only able to do that because dib wants to stay. if dib wanted to leave he could, and zim wouldn’t have the heart to hurt dib over it, even if he would be angry, and the both of them know it

zim is actually a great cook, having been banished to foodcourtia for a long time, but he really only cooks for dib

dib frequently ends arguments by picking zim up and swinging him over his shoulder like a towel and continuing on his way

neither of them really want to get married, zim doesn’t understand marriage and dib has never really actively wanted it and thinks it would be inconvenient with zim being an alien anyway, but gir is always running up to dib and telling him that he thought of a great plan on how dib should propose to zim and each time it’s more terrible and nonsensical than the last. dib always says that he’ll “think about it”.

The reason as of why Dib is aging so poorly could actually be connected to the theory in which he is a clone of his father! You see, often when any creature is cloned this is done by taking the somatic cell of the creature you wish to clone then transfering it into an egg cell. This may create a creature that seems young, but the DNA that was extracted is still as old as the creature it was taken from. For instance if professor membrane cloned Dib when he was 25 years old Dib may chronologically be young but his DNA, his chromosomes, and other things are 25 years old too!

Because of this clones have shorter telomeres which are essentially what dictates how many times a cell could divide before running out of steam per say. Which leads to poor aging and early death!
