I'd give my hand to you,
I'd give my life for you.
It's all that I knew,
It's all that I ever knew.
Stanley Marsh(walker) invented yearning and pining I fear. Finally! Have this drawing that I've been working on for a few days now. I don't draw fully rendered lined pieces often but for them I had to. SOT Style means so much to me you don't even know. Imagine being this legend okay, the legendary Stan Marshwalker, and you're puddy because your pretty king smiled at you. Iconic

asking this in good faith and with utter sincerity, wearing my I Haven't Kept Up Since 2018 hat: where did all of this hate for Liane come from?
i've been seeing quite a few posts demonizing her and framing it as Cartman is actually abused by her rather than the other way around (this is admittedly poor wording on my part since i know it's not that cut and dry) and just a lot of demonization of her character i've never seen before
it's not entirely unfounded, the early seasons do make some jokes with disturbing connotations about some of the things she's had Cartman do (the dressing up like a mailman comment, etc), and if you're someone who's a fan of Cartman and looking to connect threads and crumbs of characterization, i get turning to that. though that's also a quote from a very early episode, and i moreso interpret it as highlighting Liane's promiscuity and the shock value of "oh this sweet natured woman is actually doing these sorts of things" which was her defining trait for awhile, rather than a comment on why Cartman is the way he is. i also don't really get comments about her being neglectful to Cartman, and admittedly it elicits the same "that's clearly in service of the gag that she's actually got this 'second life' we don't--or didn't, anyway--know all about" response from me. i guess i see her and Cartman more as utilities for comedy and plot, and so my confusion is related to this
i'm still rewatching the show from the very beginning and am only at s4, so there could be things i'm forgetting. but i kinda thought the whole... thing.. was that Cartman is so rude and terrible to his mom, who's a June Cleaver-esque pushover and coddles him both despite and because of his behavior. like, not even thinking just character analysis wise, i'm just talking about the formula the show established for them
i again have not watched past s22 so i don't know anything about Cartman's hotdog arc and relationship with Liane, so maybe there's the possibility that she does something that feeds into this demonization of her
again, asking in good faith and genuine curiosity. i feel like i've seen this opinion a lot and i don't ever really remember it being a Thing back in ye olden days of fandom 10 years ago. i also am just not someone who has much desire to analyze or "get" Cartman (that could change as the episodes i rewatch get more complex, though!) and so maybe i'm just missing something from that, or it's a simple case of "people getting something different out of the show than i am" (which for me is very, very often, and especially with diehard Cartman fans)
If you take the show seriously and not as the comedy satire that it is then Liane is abusive and borderline emotionally incestuous
It’s implied she’s where Cartman gets a lot of his bigotry from (“my mom says there’s a lot of black people in Africa” “my mom loves me no matter what I look like! Right?” “…”)
The episode Tsst spells this out pretty well with how she treats Cartman as a replacement for a friend or romantic partner by enabling his behavior because she’s lonely and needs validation (textbook definition of emotional incest) not to mention the implications in the early seasons that she involved him in her sex work that you mentioned
So the TDLR is basically, people taking the show more seriously than they should, people who like Cartman and think he’s the victim and Liane is the true monster, or on the other hand people who hate Cartman and blame Liane for making him the way he is
In the more recent seasons she has grown more of a backbone and doesn’t enable his behavior as much and makes it pretty clear that Cartman is just Like That so this hate is mostly based on a version of her that doesn’t really exist anymore

Instead of cursing her to an eternal sleep or death, Maleficent declares that the princess will grow up to betray the kingdom and serve her instead. So the king sends Aurora away, but one day the young adventurous girl strays a bit too far and right into her territory.
And of course Maleficent is like "hey kid do you wanna learn some totally normal magic that is not dark or evil at all"
When I was a kid, Sleeping Beauty was my favorite princess because she wore pink, and pink was my favorite at the time. With my recent interest of dragons due to my boyfriend, I feel like things have come full circle.
Dragon!!!!
I love dragons!!!

Remember when South Park posted Tweek’s music sheet from the episode Put it down.
I feel like when I say ‘relatable’ what I really mean is ‘resonant.’ I don’t want characters who I feel are like me, I want characters who have emotions so strong I can feel them through the page.
I think this is important because a lot of us forget the power of stories to make us feel things about characters who are not like us, who have experienced things that we never will. The purpose of listening to someone else's story should not necessarily be identification, but understanding.
