So I got into wrestling very young. One of my earliest memories is seeing the Undertaker's entrance and being fucking terrified. My parents liked WWE so we all used to watch it together. I stayed a fan until I was a teenager - partly because I just kinda grew out of it. It was around the time of the summer of Punk and his feud with Cena, and as that was coming to an end I just moved on.

If you asked me as a kid, I would say HHH was the best wrestler ever and now I fully retract that statement lmao. Teenager me was the biggest Punk mark ever, and I would also fully retract that (although he is undeniably one of the greats overall.)

Now, it is categorically Kenny Omega. He got me back into wrestling. A few of my friends were already watching AEW in the very early days but I hadn't converted yet, but actually started learning about him though this video. I recommend watching it all if you are at all curious about wrestling, but you can skip the Golden Lovers section if you want some more Kenny info. I looked up everything I could find about his career and eventually gave AEW a go and I've been obsessed ever since. I learned to love wrestling again seeing how it was done outside of WWE, and in terms of in-ring ability, no-one comes close to Kenny.

I could talk about him for hours, but he is so distinct in his style, impressively athletic and creative in his matches - he has gone on record that he tries to look outside of wrestling for inspiration to other things he is passionate about like anime and video games (so many of his signature moves/his finishing move names are game references). He has been involved in so many of my all-time favourite stories in wrestling.

And... just look at him :)

Was slightly confused (and tbh a bit disappointed) in the lack of bloody violence, especially on a show opening with an I Quit match and hosting Stadium Stampede. But apparently it was in a place with dumb commission restrictions on blood. Baffles me why you would have those sorts of matches in a place where the wrestlers can't bleed (on purpose).

Also, this is a little bit of a nitpick, but really there was no difference between this Stadium Stampede and an Anarchy in the Arena match. I wish AEW would make an effort to separate the stipulations, even if Stadium Stampede was a fully cinematic match.

Given the way the rest of the season had gone, my expectations for the finale were pretty average. And I think it kinda met that expectation. There were some great moments, but none of it really felt satisfying.
