On 7 August 2026 prior to the school attack the 14 year old thai student Patchata Yimruang killed his grandparents at their shared home in Bang Bua Thong. He then went to his school where he opened fire killing 6 people and injuring at least 23. When cornered by the police he turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.
