In 1961, 152 black cats descended on a studio in Hollywood to audition for a new version of Edgar Allan Poe’s scary classic, “The Black Cat.” Although LIFE only published one image in the Dec. 15, 1961 edition, staff photographer Ralph Crane shot over 300 frames. This gem is just one of those unpublished outtakes. (Ralph Crane—The LIFE Picture Collection/Getty Images) #BlackCats #catsofinstagram #FridayThe13th

Tomorrow is UNC’s second game against Duke this season, but it’s also the anniversary of an amazing UNC win. It was March 4th, 2006 and Senior Day for Duke and J. J. Redick. UNC hadn’t won a game at Cameron in five years. Tyler Hansbrough, Marcus Ginyard, Bobby Frasor, and Danny Green were all freshmen, and no one expected UNC to perform well.
But the Tar Heels won 83-76, beginning a 4-year streak of winning in Cameron.
The other big news? A group of Robertson scholars camped out in K-ville and infiltrated the Cameron Crazies in beautiful Carolina blue.
Watch the full March 6th, 2006 Carolina Week where we got that awesome GIF footage.
Read more about the game at GoHeels.com.
