The old saying goes "all good things come to an end." Patriot has been open for a little over 4 years. Before that I was falling out of Airsoft and was unemployed. I had nothing to do, put in applications everywhere but no one was hiring. I saw a message on facebook through one of friends saying that they were opening an Airsoft in Newbury Park. They needed volunteers to help build it. I had nothing else better to do, so I headed over there. That's when I met Tony and Jen. Two of the nicest people you would ever meet. They asked the airsofters and builders, in their opinion how they should set up the field. From there, that's when the Patriot Airsoft community was born. Since then, we had refs come and go. Some stayed, some moved on into their career path. For me, I stayed. One of the original refs. I had been there since day 1. Tony and Jen wanted to make this a family oriented Airsoft community where players would throw in their suggestions on what we should change or what we should get for our retail store. They also provided Nerf nights for kids who were not old enough to play Airsoft but could enjoy our field playing Nerf. It was my local/home Airsoft field. In the late of 2015, Jen told us the terrible news, the building owner renewed the lease underneath us and gave it to the building next door so they can expand. The building owner cut us down and forced us out onto the streets without warning. We tried to keep it under wraps until we could figure out a solution. As time caught up to us, we had to tell our customers. When we told them initially, they thought we were joking. Sadly, we weren't. The airsofters were devastated and tried to help out all they could. But as the final day came. We had out biggest turn out ever. All the regulars came on our last day, even the people who haven't been in over 3 years showed up. Tears were shed, memories were shared, and overall good times we had. Jen broke down crying while airsofters gave their thank you notes and hugs thanking us for all years we've been there. I say goodbye to Patriot, it has been a huge impact in my life and I will never forget it. Thank you Tony and Jen for everything.
