A. If we wanna go dark, I would 100% be behind Leonard/Luther in a similar situation as Vanya/Leonard (since Luther is very open to emotional manipulation)

But I was thinking more of AU’s with them as teens still, mainly because the scene where Leonard begs Reginald to take him in made my heart hurt and I want Baby Leonard to grow up healthy, okay?

So I started thinking about possible AU’s where he manages to sneak into the academy before he snaps and kills his Dad and then I had a revelation.

Imagine him sneaking in and being found by Number One, who has the immediate urge to report to his Dad like any good Leader would but also has a strong sense of justice and recognizes how clearly messed up this citizen.

And who’s responsibility is it to protect scared citizen? His of course.

So Luther hides Leonard in the attic and they get to talking, gradually telling all the other academy members of the situation to decide what they should do (Allison first of course).

I like the different worldviews they would have. Leonard pleading with Luther to go kill his Dad because “You kill bad guys!” and Luther being content believing his Father could never be like that.

Also both of their messed up views on justice clashing with each other because Leonard believes in man made justice while Luther totally holds up laws and would never hurt someone who could be innocent.

Just two messed up boys who could try to help each other.

(Also Luther is very isolated from the others in his leader role and Leonard is canonly a very lonely child, so they would form their first real friendship with each other!)

And if you want a different AU, Leonard actually having powers and coming to the academy after Reggie sees his potential and he just recognizes how fucked up everything he used to glorify is.

First he’s really eager to please because he’s afraid to be thrown out again and there’s some rivalry between him and Luther (and by extent Diego), but then he recognizes that Reggie isn’t so different from his Dad and tries to make that clear to Luther and Luther stubbornly refuses to see it.

(Also Leonard being willing to go a bit darker on missions and Luther being totally thrown because he’s the Leader and supposed to deal with this mess of a boy, show him discipline).

“Why can’t we just kill him?” - “He’s a guard! He didn’t do anything!” - “He tried to stop us!” - “He was just doing his job!”

Also also, Leonard being nice to everyone and the others obviously liking him and Luther seeing his position as Leader in danger?? Even Reggie praises him pretty often and that makes Luther’s blood boil.

There are so many possibilities to work out a dynamic between them - one that doesn’t even have to be shippy - and I just like thinking about it!

Based off after that episode where Vanya and Leonard slept together, then she wears his shirt (or clothes?) except this time shes wearing the shirt of someone who deserves her.

vanya was staring at five for several moments before he stabbed his knife into the table, indicating that she knew that he was about to bring up time travel and was deeply concerned (further supported by her eye contact and head shaking while five was arguing with reginald). so basically, i’m thinking they had at least one conversation about this the night before and vanya might have even tried to talk him out of it.

this page (the page where vanya talks about five being her sole confidant and her best friend who listened to her violin playing) is not the one with the final equation that let five travel back to 2019. he flipped to that page on purpose just to quickly reread it and him putting his hand on the passage where she talks about him is literally him tenderly touching the words. then he flips forward to the page he actually needs, which is on the very first page of the book.

afterwards, while he’s waiting for the portal to fully materialize, he’s clutching the book nervously. his hand is holding the book open not at the front cover, but back again to the page where she talks about him.

here’s reginald’s book flipped open to the page about vanya. it’s hard to see, but he appears to have said something in her bio about five (towards the bottom of the bio you can see some words followed by #00.05) but for the life of me i can’t read it and i wanna know what it says DAMMIT!

during the scene where vanya is destroying the house, the only time five appears is during the family portrait scene in the living room. while young vanya is saying “you forgot about me” and reginald says “i did not” and vanya cries for reginald to acknowledge her, the rest of the kids look totally emotionless and are confidently facing the camera. except five, who looks like he’s trying not to intervene and is clearly upset.
