i think the only way i can see the line “i had big dreams ‘til i tied myself to you” as romantic in any sense is like. sonya from girls like girls or jackie from yellowjackets. like sonya going along with her mom’s goals for her and dance (which isn’t really talked about in the film but it’s implied in the book that it’s not super fun for sonya anymore) and going on to marry some guy like trenton but then she meets coley and ‘ties herself’ to her, and that pre-planned path goes away because she wants her dreams to involve coley now if that makes sense? and jackie wanting the regular husband and kids routine and sort of accepting that that’s all she can do but shauna gives her hope all up until she breaks jackie’s trust about being able to have some kind of happiness and whatever
