I noticed lately that despite writing not to use the art of their twitter’s banner. many still asked for the permission to. I found that to already be quite insensitive. Then all the questions about pairings and now, from them being upset, I suspect many have asked for reposting.

I don’t think you get upset over just one ask. Plus now you can’t access their page or send ask anymore.

I saw someone say in the notes of this the artist is in the wrong. They are not.

We have no idea how often people pester them about repost. Or using their art. Getting attention as an artist on the internet has positive sides but bad ones as well.

If you are the artist, you decide whether to share or not, where to post or not. It is incredibly personal and the proof of being the creator. You think nothing of usurping this right. Many may not know but I think there are enough drama around these issues for people to guess at least a little.

Please, be more sensible. It is not your call to decide where you want to see the art you like on the Internet when you did not create that art. Artists are lending you this right if they agree to give permission. Please be more considerate of this fact.

It is not just about being polite and genuinely liking the piece. It is ALSO being mindful of what it means to be an artist, the work it represents and respecting that.

You are not asking a friend to lend you their book. It is more akin to asking a chef to serve their food in your own restaurant. And thinking they’re mean for not appreciating you asking.
