"Flee also from youthful lusts"... We are constantly being told that it's okay to make mistakes and do rebellious things, and try to validate these wrong things by saying "we should live while we're young!" "You only live once!" "Fool around while it still doesn't matter!" Getting drunk, disrespecting others, being promiscuous, gossiping and lying are all "okay" because we're "still young". But is it ever really okay to sin? Did I miss the scriptures in the Bible where God tells us from what age sin applies? Society's ideal of "living in the moment" completely contradicts The Word's teachings. The Bible encourages us flee from youthful lusts, and seek righteousness. We, as youth and children of God, are meant to set an example to our peers and the generations to follow. Frankly, there's no time to waste (Revelations 22:20), and we'll one day have to explain to our Heavenly Father everything we've done while we were on this earth. So if we are to call ourselves children of God, let's discard our instinctual, sinful nature, deny ourselves (Matthew 16:24) and follow Him wholeheartedly- in our thoughts, characters and actions. It's definitely not easy for anyone (including me), but it's something we must strive towards: making the Bible the standard of our lives, and living righteously ♡
