it was validating, in a way, that the words that haruka himself had expressed, were ones that hatori found himself thinking almost any time he was together with the swimmer. after being content to not try & date pursue anything that could even bring him some form of happiness, haunted by his past love, as well as the potential risk that anyone new could have dealing with him.

perhaps that was what made things all the more meaningful with his relationship with the other male. one that managed to defy the odds, probably due to haruka himself being stubborn, a wave washing over hatori, & almost strong enough to topple him over with his feelings.

at the same time, haruka presented hatori with a sense of peace that he had not experienced since kana. no... this was different than the sense of peace she had once made him feel. with haruka it felt stronger. he wasn't sure if there were words to properly explain it, not being much of a wordsmith. still, what he felt in his heart, especially in regards to haruka, was enough for him to know that words weren't necessary.

for something told him that haruka knew what it was, as he felt it too.

expression softens as hands caress the swimmer's face, leaning forward to press a soft, yet loving kiss against his lips.

"if only you knew how grateful i am that you have become my peace, haruka..."

she had to stop herself from daring to ask the question aloud of why it was so important for glinda to have lipstick on her lips. was she expecting some prince to come by & kiss her awake? or was it more of a matter of glinda wanting to make sure that she looked as perfectly put together & very... well, glinda had someone happened to walk past.

the more she thought of it, the more that elsa just happened to find it to be absurd, but there was nothing in glinda's voice that made her believe the other was joking. actually, elsa didn't even know why she would've found that all that surprising.

a sigh finally follows, shaking her head as she realized that this was just how glinda was & there was no changing that. something she found both endearing & annoying at the same time. probably the only one that didn't fawn over the young woman with nothing but blind adoration.

"i don't make any promises," comes her answer, knowing that it did probably sound a bit too harsh. "but if i really have no other choice..."

"ella, you know you really don't have to." the last thing the queen had wanted her guest to do was to cook for them. even if the thought & gesture in itself was only a testament to the maiden's character, elsa herself wouldn't have felt right regardless.

she wanted her own insistence to come across as less as a royal issuing a command, & more as if it was just one friend trying to convince another that it would be alright. the only thing that elsa herself could only hope for was the possibility of ella being stubborn.

the other's temperament wouldn't have her thinking that at first, but there was still a special kind of persistence that ella would showcase. at times elsa would view it like stubbornness, but from her own experiences, it was barely anything like ella.

hand gently pats ella's with a reassuring nod. "you should be enjoying the festivities with us. i would feel like a terrible host if you couldn't have fun."

despite being in the safety of her room, elsa could still feel her heart racing against her chest. this couldn't be happening. this shouldn't be happening.

stepping away from her door, she found herself pacing in a panic. anxiety clouded her mind, as well as her conflicting emotions about what she was now feeling. how could what was once respect that she held for seteth turning into something so much more? she was sure if anna was in the room, her sister would gush about how it was meant to be.

that it was true love.

but that was the thing of fairy tales. seteth was so dignified & yes, elsa liked him. primarily, she had admired him, though when she found herself fancying him, elsa was able to play it off as just her imagination. it wasn't as if she had any moments before to compare to such an instance.

her mind replayed the moment when her denial could no longer be overlooked. a conversation with seteth that had been so simple in nature, & yet the reassuring tone in his voice, the comfort that she had felt. for it truly was in that moment where something clicked.

how she excused herself was one she looked back on with such embarrassment, cheeks burning at the mere memory. as well controlled as she was, the way her steps hurried, a rushed half-excuse for her sudden departure.

just what a mess she was turning out to be.

hesitancy follows after the other's declaration. one that came from a place of good intentions, that much elsa herself is able to pick up on, & yet she can't help but wonder why.

she did not know what she had done to garner such a reply from raphael. maybe it was just like anna, who had a good heart & viewed so many with goodness in her heart. even thinking of the times they had spoken in passing, he had only ever been nice to her.

despite being in different houses.

eventually, elsa managed a small smile, for once unable to hide the shyness with her well maintained mask. "i find myself at a loss of what to say, besides, thank you. this is a kindness that i don't deserve."

every member of the zodiac has their own feelings about their form, for one reason or another. yet while the other members of the sōma family do turn into their actual animals, for hatori, the matter of his form leaves less to be desired.

the reality of hatori turning into an actual dragon was probably still a rarity, an irony that the curse itself still managed to ground itself in some layer of reality. yet, for him to be a seahorse still felt humiliating. their zodiac form was already another layer of vulnerability, and yet for him to be a creature like that. he would never wrap his mind around in. could never wrap his mind around it.

there is a complicated duality of being more open than she had been before, and yet still just as closed off as she had been before her coronation. yet for elsa, she knows that the way she goes about the world will never be the same as her dear younger sister, anna.

for while there is a longing to have more meaningful connections outside of anna and kristoff ( who she still cares about deeply ), elsa keeps how close someone can get to her at a distance. around others, it is easier for her to step into the role of a young queen, regarding her subjects with a regal warmth and care.

though she is no longer feared for her powers by the people of arendelle, there will forever be a concern that lingers in the back of her mind, haunting her, that it could all change overnight. she may be more open with her abilities now, but that does not undo the years of self-shame and guilt that weighs heavily on her like an albatross around her neck.

many will view elsa as more open than before, but the queen has her limits, treating every relationship with varying forms of caution. the air of formality never dissipates, and even when alone with her sister, olaf, and kristoff, it's as if she still has certain walls up still ( even if she does well to make it seem like all is well ).

it is an internal torment that she puts herself through, but she figures that it is for the best. she doesn't really know or trust herself to be informal with anyone, to let down her guard and allow people in again, while still trying to mend what was lost between her and her sister.
