Eridians did a giant thrum to create a plan of action for the astrophage problem. I assume that once the crew on the Blip-A started getting sick they had a thrum about that too. Cause that's a major problem. And as things got worse I think they would keep having thrums desperately trying to discover something to help. And it's bad. Eridians that are sick or dying don't usually join thrums but this is an extreme situation that requires an exception. Some of the crew actually die while in the thrum, desperate to provide as much information as possible.
The downside to this is EVERYONE on the crew feels and experiences the sickness and the pain and the fear, even the healthy ones because the info is shared collectively. And eventually Rocky is the only one left, with intimate knowledge of what his crew mates suffered through. What it feels like to be actively dying and terrified. Even what it feels like to literally fade until the point of death. And he'll never ever forget it.
More angst potential: Once back on Erid Rocky is asked to thrum to share all the information from the mission and he refuses to do it. Maybe he pretends he can't do it anymore after his exposure to Grace's atmosphere or because he did get a little radiation and no one but him knows what that does to an Eridian.
Everyone is pretty upset about it, especially the crew's family members who wanted to know what their loved one's last days were like. And everyone is pissed when they find out Rocky can actually still thrum and is just refusing.
Maybe eventually Rocky agrees to thrum with ONE official, the Eva Stratt of Eridians essentially, under the condition that they have to listen to EVERYTHING one time and then it's their problem to separate the information and distribute it themselves.
The official listens silently, thanks Rocky, takes the week off and eventually announces that they will not be thrumming the information either. They'll write all the reports, in fine detail even. They get all the heat that was on Rocky for keeping secrets. They'll take it gladly. Because Rocky has been through enough.

Project Hail Mary AU where after Stratt's guilt trip Grace is like ok fine. I'll willingly go under one condition: you have to come too. Show me how easy it'll be to leave everything. You're a glorified manager and you don't have a dog either.
Project Hail Mary Journey to Erid Starvation Solutions:
• AU where Grace didn't jettison the dead crew members. Maybe he wanted to keep them so all 3 members would still be on the ship when he eventually died, or maybe he met Rocky before he did eject them, or maybe Rocky actually found the bodies in space and kept them so future Eridians could study them. Doesn't matter. The movie happens like normal and eventually on the way to Erid trying to solve the whole starve to death situation Rocky is like. Um. Hard conversation here but uh I know how to keep you alive. And Grace is like :D how?? He has to eat the dead crew mates is how. Bonus idea: Rocky realizes this later on when Grace is Not Well, but knows Grace won't agree to it so he breaks down the bodies and adds it to the slurry Grace is living off of at that point without telling him. Grace finds out eventually and it is so bad for him.
• Grace finds out there's emergency blood on the ship and has to eventually eat that. Disgust.

BloodyMary idea: Classic premise of Grace Rocky finding Simon out in space on the way to Erid. Grace is so happy to have another human but also at the same time completely devastated because he barely had enough food for just him to make it and now that there's 2 humans they definitely won't.
In my mind there's 2 solutions that I enjoy:
Grace is freaking out about the situation and Rocky is like why freaking out? That gooey stuff in the other ship has a bunch of nutrients humans need. Solution is obvious. And Grace is like ew no way but after a few days he eventually has to admit that eating the blood from the sub might be their only option. In this scenario I think they would hide the situation from Simon even as blood was mixed into their nasty taumoebae/coma soup mix. When Simon does eventually find out things get. Bad.
The group all try and figure the food problem out with no new breakthroughs. Over the months it becomes apparent that within 2 years they'll both 100% be dead. Eventually one of them (take your pick) realizes that if one of the humans eats the other one then they will live and make it to Erid. Ooo angst.
I think it would be interesting if Rocky went just a little bit nuts while alone on the Blip-A and started making a bunch of Francisco de Goya style art to cope. Real disturbing stuff because he knows no one will ever see it and he's going to die out there.
He obviously feels better, or at least distracted, once Grace shows up. But then Grace asks to go on his ship and Rocky's like fuck ok well maybe he won't understand any of it. Which Grace doesn't because there's a lot of X-Ray 3D elements to the sculptures and he just assumes they are part of the ship. Crisis avoided.
Until like 10 years later when a salvage crew shows up to drag the ship back to Erid for prosperity and they are subjected to the most disturbing art they've ever seen. On Erid artists try to make hopeful pieces that are meant to lift the population up in times of hardship. This art was hopeless and full of grief and it honestly hurts to even see. It looks like it hurt to make it.
Rocky tries to play it off like the other crew members made it before they died but it's obvious it was all made after that. The fact that Adrian is present in several of them kinda gives him away.
Rocky becomes very famous in the art scene and he definitely hates it. He worked very hard to pretend everything was fine and he was fine until this blew all that up. Now his friends realize that hey maybe Rocky isn't ok after all.
Some possible pieces/features I think would be in the collection:
• A Matryoshka doll style piece where each layer is a xenonite reconstruction of the carapace of each crew member from biggest to smallest with Rocky in the middle. In each one the eridian is clearly dead and has the cracks and blood from when they lost the radiation fight (Also eridians can tell from body language or position). Rocky is the only one alive and looks terrified.
• A smaller room/section of the ship where the internal communication systems were centered that Rocky tore apart and reshaped because he obviously didn't need it anymore. He recreated the crews bodies in life size pieces and wove the strings through them, connecting severed legs, bits of carapace, and organs around the entire room to create a 3D horror show. The mission tattoos and marriage marks of his crew members connected to crate an eridian phrase that means a hopeless task where the participant has essentially already died before beginning.
• A vast, busy looking mural of space that goes from Erid all the way to Tau Ceti with a bunch of features such as asteroid belts and energy signals. So much that its honestly hard to pick anything out unless you listen very very carefully and hone in on it. Mixed in there disguised in all the calculations and such are depictions of eridian predators that essentially jump scare whoever is examining the piece. It creates an incredibly primal panic feeling just by being around it even before spotting the predators because the viewer's brain still detects them unconsciously.
• A space in Rocky's workshop which is a closed box and when inside no noise can get in and you can only detect yourself. The sounds are amplified and reverberate back to such a degree that it's overwhelming. Crudely scratched on the outside is the phrase "To Watch Myself". This is clearly where Rocky had been sleeping.
• A collection of slates scattered next to the large machine that stores information for the crew. On them are notes about every role on the ship and how to do them. The notes start neat every time but deteriorate into slapdash large scrawlings that are deeply carved into the slate and seem to have been done in a fury. At the bottom of each one are dents and chips where it had clearly been struck repeatedly, with mercury staining each. On all the slates there is a sheen of glue that had been added later with crumbled carapace and bits of claws/hands stuck on that match Rocky's. If you look closely at Rocky it becomes obvious that most of his claws have been regrown several times.
• A 3D scene with Adrian laying in their nest, which had been changed to accommodate a clutch of eggs. They have their legs protectively surrounding said clutch. Adrian is slumped backwards limp against the wall with cracks and crumbling carapace all over them, a pool of mercury staining the nest and eggs. Inside the eggs the babies have similar injuries. It's identical to the injuries and side effects the crew had suffered before dying. Later on Erid it is speculated that this was Rocky's fear of returning home, as he didn't know if an unknown disease was responsible for the crew's deaths. One of the most disturbing aspects of the scene is that the mercury pool is real eridian blood, presumably added by Rocky himself over several months.
• Another scene featuring Adrian where they are surrounded by the families of the crew. Adrian is standing over a mess of mashed flesh with bits of viscera and mercury (real) staining their claws and arms. Each family has a piece of leg or carapace what was clearly torn from Rocky. Surrounding the mess in the middle that's clearly all that's left of Rocky is the phrase "Not Enough"
• In the common area are the hellraiser sleeping rigs for all of the crew members with incredibly detailed realistically recreated bodies on each of them. The level of detail for all of them is so precise that even the organs/anatomical variations are accurate. The recovery crew legitimately thought these were the actual bodies for a few minutes before they went in and inspected further. Each is respectfully fitted with a small pipe in one of their breathing orifices that connects to a central air pump. When it is turned on each body makes one gentle but incredibly lifelike note that all mesh to create the word "Together". The uncomfortable implication of this piece is that Rocky spent several years doing invasive echolocation on each dead body so that he could make these.
Feel free to reblog with your own ideas! I'm a sucker for angst.

Had a dream my friend and I were hiding in a supply closet from a werewolf and my friend would not stop talking and I was like pleeassse shut the fuck up or it's going to find us and she kept whispering and sure enough the werewolf did break through the door and bit my leg and she still would not shut up so I was getting mauled by a werewolf and was trying to grab my friend to physically shut her mouth myself because I was so pissed off and anyway I was just thinking that if Caine ever went on an adventure with the group it would probably go a lot like this

I had an idea once where this guy would travel through time to do the kill baby hitler thing to bad people except he just stole baby them and then raised them himself in the future.
Swipe cheers when people get in fights in the circus. Think of that scene from Hot Rod with the grill cheese fight. They throw items in so people can use them in the fight.
I think if I was Danny I would blow up nasty burger preemptively after the events of TUE. I might blow up every nasty burger in town just to be safe. Fuck them and their sauce. Not my problem anymore.
Had a dream the tadc crew and I were forced to live in a truck stop and I told Jax to use the girl shower because there's not digital piss on the floors in there and also none of us have privates
Venom has a point y'know
