Ugh. At the vey least, they were leaving.
Guilt does pang in Fuyumi's chest at the assumption she had made about their gender-- But who could blame her? That coat, how they styled themselves, their hair and mentioning a husband had all lead to that conclusion, even if she often thought herself more open-minded than that.
But besides Geten's-- gender, or preferences-- what a jerk!! Going so far as to all but call her stupid, continuing to insult her family right to her face! Angrily, as they start to walk off, she goes so far as to slam the gate shut. She almost wished she'd kicked the damn support item at their stupid, pretty-boy head.
...How mean of her to think.
Still thrumming with frustration, she picks the package back up and looks it over. How could they know, really...? It was easy to come to the conclusions they had, she guesses... From it being advertised by poor Shoto's face, to her father's general attitude until quite recently. Much as she loathed the idea of anyone outside their immediate family visiting her mother, it did stick with her that Rei had always been the first to defend hers and her father's choices in their youth, before they'd had children...
That it was a means to an end, certainly. But one Rei herself had picked, as the alternative terrified and revolted her. An alternative she had, apparently, gone to great lengths for her own daughter to avoid. Buying someone... Like it was that simple. What a childish way to view the world, especially from someone whose origins seemed to overlap with theirs so thoroughly.
Detnerat... She'd seen the commercials. Seen the company's owner, actually, and realized how hypocritical Geten's stance was if they were in fact married to the man. Dad had always written their products off as second rate trash, even if he didn't tend to use support items. For his sidekicks who did, he usually sprung for top-of-the-line or even custom equipment from designers he-- or those he respected-- trusted. How would it look to have one of their products just laying around...? Not great, especially when his mood had been so incredibly hit-or-miss.
But Geten didn't know him. Or her.
Though... they did seem to know her mother. And apparently, weren't associated with the main clan anymore. How long had she wondered, though it was indeed a background consideration, what that had been like? Why Rei stopped visiting, or at least stopped bringing her children along...?
Lucky the both of them were easy to pick out at a distance. It had taken some mulling over-- and running inside to both hide the package as well as toss the meal she'd been nearly finished with into an airtight container-- before she'd finally dashed back outside with her purse slung over her shoulder to try and hunt them down. To her advantage she knew the neighborhood quite well, and could assume the route Geten had taken & utilize shortcuts to catch them before they made it to the station.
And there they were, still clearly fuming as they stomped along-- Maybe this, too, was a mistake, and she should turn back-- but curiosity won out. Perhaps that was genetic.
"Um...!" she called out, waving to get their attention once more. "I... I'm sorry, I... I shouldn't have slammed the gate door. I wanted to apologize for that, properly..."
