Warnings: strong language, drinking, violence
“Oh, look at us leaving a party so early.” Selina said as she and Jesse exited the building. “How lame.”
“That’s what happens when you’ve got a fussy two month old who won’t let you hang out for more than a few hours.” Jesse laughed. “But I promise we’ll stay out as long as you want on your birthday.”
“Awww, thanks, baby.” Selina smiled. “You know I’ve been dying to catch up with my dance sisters. They don’t even—” She stopped in her tracks when she noticed Beckett lurking outside the building, looking tipsy and disheveled.
“What’re you doing out here?” Jesse said, standing between Selina and Beckett.
“What’s it to you?” Beckett glared at them. “Can’t a man sulk outside a building in peace?”
“Not with a bottle of whiskey he can’t.” Selina raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, man, you look a little out of it.” Jesse looked him up and down. “Did you drive here? You want me to call you a cab or something?”
Beckett scoffed. “You just love playing the nice guy, don’t you? You want everyone around you to think you’re some perfect little angel.” He grinned like a fool. “Bet you’re getting real tired of acting nice.”
“Oh wow. The dickhead is baffled by genuine human compassion.” Selina said sarcastically. “What a shocker.”
“Hah. Genuine.” Beckett snorted. “As if…”
“C’mon, Lina, let’s just go.” Jesse wrapped his arm around her protectively. “It’s getting late and Marcel’s gonna wake up soon.”
“Yeah, run away like you always do. You act all tough but I know you’re a coward.” Beckett taunted, trailing after them.
“Seriously, dude, stop following us.” Jesse looked at him uncomfortably. “Just how shit-faced are you?”
“Go back to the party, Martin.” Selina said, clinging to Jesse with her free arm. “We have a baby with us, just leave us alone.”
Beckett paused. “I can’t go back in there.” He narrowed his eyes. “Or did you forget what you did earlier?”
“Ugh, a little wine on your shirt isn’t gonna ruin a party.” Selina rolled her eyes. “Get it together.”
Beckett started laughing like a mad man. “If you think all you did was ruin my best shirt, you’re out of your mind.”
“What’re you talking about?” Jesse stared at him in confusion. “We didn’t do anything.”
“Oh yeah? After your little stunt today, Freeman kicked me out.” Beckett explained. “He saw what happened earlier and fired me. That’s my whole career right down the drain.” He shot daggers at Selina. “Happy now, you stupid bitch?”
Jesse blinked a few times. “What did you just call her?”
Beckett groaned. “I said she’s a worthless whore who rui—”
Jesse cut him off with a punch to the face.
“Goddammit!” Beckett grimaced in pain. “Gah, what the hell?”
“Don’t ever talk to my girlfriend like that.” Jesse said with a terrifying glare. “But you were right. I was getting tired of being nice to an asshole like you so thanks for that.” He took Selina’s hand. “Now don’t come near me or my family again.”
