@cerceia replied to your post: AU where the Lannister siblings actually try and...
god I wish. but then they’d be unstoppable
Tywin is dead before the series even begins, Robert is terrified to do anything bad towards his wife because her brothers can and will kill him, they said as much, their mom is probably alive in this AU too fuck it, everything is better when the Lannisters work together
AU where the Lannister siblings actually try and help each other survive their childhood trauma instead of falling for their dad pitting them against each other
I’m gonna say it now but like... Tyrion and Sansa when she’s older, I’m talking late 20s almost 30 at the absolute earliest could be good together. I’m more than fine with them staying friends and partners because they have been a pretty good team that looks out for each other, but a ship could develop down the line once Sansa is an actual adult and managed to work through some of her own issues and trauma. Like, I know for a fact that Tyrion never saw her romantically until well after she had became an adult. Even then, he’s not gonna act on anything, especially because she’s still so much younger than him, and she’s had enough older men go after and use her. Sure he might ask a question or two to gauge if she actually feels anything for him too, but it’s only to determine how best to go about this. Should she not feel anything back, he wouldn’t blame her and just continue on being her friend because he likes that too, like so fucking much. But if she does, say through some sort of end-of-series confession, I will automatically have Tyrion tell her that while he does feel the same, he doesn’t want to lock her into anything when she’s still so young. She needs to experience love her own age, and work through her trauma. Should any feelings remain later down the line, they can talk about it then.
Also can we point out the fact that Tyrion's plans going to shit for shock value is fucking stupid ? Like, his RENOWNED TRAIT is being the smartest little bastard in the room ! It's how he has survived this whole time ! He is cunning and strategic and smart, his plans should work much of the time ! But they don't on the show when he's Hand of the Queen because Uh Oh ! Gotta Fuck It Up So The Show Keeps Going And We Shock Our Viewers With These DRAMATIC TWISTS OF FATE ! And it's bullshit. This is why I will be so strictly book based, because the show is a clusterfuck that I will only takes the good parts from. You know, the exact opposite of what they did to the books ?

Despite the fact that Cersei treats Tyrion so poorly... he can't actually bring himself to fully despise her. Resentment is one thing, but to hate is another animal entirely. She suffered, just like him, under their father's iron fist, and she adapted just like him. They had different ways of adapting though, as they had very different traumas. Even if she hates him for killing their mother ( which he does blame himself for, fun fact, despite knowing he couldn't actually control this fact ) he can't help but actually feel sorry for her. Sure his methods aren't perfect, but hers, in his eyes, are even more maladaptive. And... she'shis sister, whether they like it or not. And in the end, Tyrion can't ever really hate his family, save for Tywin, but even then there's a hint of guilt.
Tyrion would actually be a good dad, I think. Struggles with it, at first, but ultimately surprisingly good at it.
Tyrion feels strong emotions, he just never fucking shows them because you have to be measured and calculated, especially when you've been abused your whole life because otherwise it's used against you, and he knew that lesson so, so fucking well
Can we talk about the fact that Cersei and Tyrion both never really had a lot of love in their lives, and they approached that fact so differently ? But it also leads to a very similar trait as well. Cersei, who had a taste of it through her brother and mother and children, clings to it desperately and refusing to let go. Tyrion, who never had any for a long time save some kindness from Jamie however, uses his loneliness as armor. Of course he won't be loved, he never has been, and he will pretend he is just fine with that. But, once he's proven wrong, he clings to it almost as strongly Cersei does. Almost. He still keeps a distance, despite how desperately he does want whatever connection he's formed, because there's fear and worry though he jokes through it. His pain keeps him from being codependent when he loves, though he can love fiercely.
