Typography with Kareena

The courses are typed in heavy bold open sans, to ensure users can read it easily. 

The background were two layers, one is a solid colour and the other is an image, however, the transparency was used which ensured that the typefaces can be legible. 

These 3 fonts were consistently used throughout the website mockup and the colour scheme of blue, yellow and whit was maintained as well. 

In 1957, Max Miedinger, Swiss national, created the Neue Haas Grotesk. It was later renamed to Helvectica, which means Swiss in Latin. This is an example of transitional sans serif typeface.

Sound’s pretty painful to me.

One of my favourite quotes, “When life plants you, bloom with grace”. This font was chosen since it gives that graceful feeling, and the background is dull which makes the type pops up more. 

In 1928, Eric Gill create a typeface to rival the success of Futura and Gill Sans was born. Gill Sans is sometimes referred to as “the Hevetica of England”. It is an example of a humanist sans typeface, that has no natural strokes than geometric sans. 

In 1927, Paul Renner, a German, designed Futura. This is an example of geometric sans. This style is marked by use of basic geometric shapes to create clean fonts. 

In 1886, Ottmar Mergenthaler, a German inventor, was called the second Gutenberg when he created the Linotype machine. A device which easily and quickly set lines of type for printing press. 

In 1816, William Calson IV, was credited with creating the first sans serif. It was all capital typeface that he called Egyptian. 

What can this be? It's the very first logo on the blog! This logo was created for this blog, to represent me. The simplicity of this logo screams out a person who loves minimalism and are into line art, aka what I love. That's enough of me now. Stay tuned for throwback typography thursday next week!!

With such simplicity, comes great beauty. Using typography, use a font and personalize it, which speaks to you, as a designer. This font is best suited for my personality since I'm into minimalism, and love to be as unique as I can with my designs.

Just like learning human anatomy to make diagonses, understanding the anatomy of type will ensure you are able to distinguish what is right and wrong in type and how to use it effectively.

In 1784, Firmin Didot became a skilled type designer and created the typeface, Didot. It was first categorized as a modern style typeface. This is characterized by vertical stress and contrast in the weights of thick and thin lines. 

John Baskerville aimed to improve Carlson's typeface by creating Baskerville, 1757. This was an example of transitional style type. The typeface is calligraphic due to the contrast of thick and thin strokes.

William Calson, an Englishman whom created the Calson typeface in 1722. It was consider popular in England and America. Calson was an example of the old-style type, which features small x-heights and little variation thick and thin strokes.
