Two Ways to Say It

What I could say: Tortured myself this morning by watching the Bear Chase trail half-marathon down in Morrison. Instead of running out there with everyone, I was stuck sitting in a chair at the finish line for two hours.Not being able to do my favorite things is so depressing.

A friend posts: "Every time I see a tinder meltdown from some guy expecting sex or some weird comments made out of the blue to girls on there, I am forever grateful NOT to be in the dating game... Dear lord, I would not survive in today's dating game... It's changed so much in just 4 years."

What I could say: It's always been like this. There are crazy people everywhere. And it's great you found your soulmate/love-of-your-life/husband already, but maybe instead of repeatedly pointing out how miserable I'm going to be while dating, maybe you could be a little more sensitive? Thanks for reminding me how much more shit I'll have to deal with, like that wasn't glaringly obvious already.

What I could say: Two days later and my ankle is in pain, the painkillers make me nauseous, and I can't sleep because the air cast hurts. I can't move and I'm stuck inside - not dealing well with this 180degree lifestyle change.

What I could say: Tried to go for a ride in the mountains today to see the fall leaves, but car motion + painkillers = severe nausea. Not to mention every time I got out of the car, my ankle hurt like hell and I couldn't work the crutches well.

What I could say: Went in for an eye appointment today, and found out I have conjunctivitis caused from wearing my contacts. The treatment is to wear glasses instead until it calms down, which sucks because I don't own glasses and I found out it takes a week to get them. So, I can either have really irritated, gooey eyes or go blind. Just what I needed to deal with on top of my surgery this week.

What I could say: My 2-year-old car got rear-ended on my way home from work, leaving me without a rear bumper panel, undercarriage damage, and a broken turn signal. I can't go through my insurance if I don't want to pay $500 plus rental car charges, but it'll take up to two weeks to deal with their insurance. So, I'm stuck driving an unsafe car and wasting my time dealing with insurance, auto-body places, and the rental car agency. Just what I needed right before surgery.

What I could say: Found out I have to get surgery on my ankle. Now I'll have to wear a cast for a month, in addition to wearing the boot until December. Now, this thing won't be back to normal until at least February. There goes my ski season. AND, not sure how I'm going to drive with this, since it's my right foot. how the hell am I supposed to get to work?

What I could say: Sitting around at home is killing me. It got so bad today that I drove up to the Flatirons Vista trail head after work and tried to walk on one of the handicapped trails. It was only ~20 yards long though, so I tried to go further on the normal trail. It was too much for the ankle though, so I had to turn back. It is killing me to not be able to do the things I used to do to relieve stress!

What I could say: Had to wake up super early to get through airport security with the boot (pain in the ass) and catch my flight home after barely getting any sleep last night. All I want to do is sleep, but I still have to go down to my family's Labor Day BBQ. If they had told me about this earlier, I would have scheduled my flights differently so I wasn't so exhausted. UGH.
